B. STERNER & W. B. AMSPCHER,
ELEVATED KETTLE CARRIER.
UNITED STATES,
PATENT OFFICEQ EMANUEL STERNER AND WESLEY BLAMsPoHER, or GLENVILLE, PENN- SYLVANIA. I
ELEVATED KETTLE-CARRIER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 475,167, dated May 1Z, 1892.
Application filed January 21, 1892- Serial No. 418,744. (No modal.)
The invention relates to improvements in.
elevated kettle-carriers for fireplaces.
The object of the present invention is to provide for fireplaces an elevated carrier by which a kettle, pot, or similar vessel may be readily placed over a fire and removed therefrom without liability ofburning the operator and by which the heaviest vessel may be moved with comparative ease.
The invention consists in the construction and novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claims hereto appended.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a fireplace having an elevated carrier constructed in accordance with this invention, the hanger being arranged at the front or outer end of the track-bar. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional View.
Like numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in both figures of the drawings.
1 designates a horizontal track-bar extending from the front to the back of a fireplace and having its rear end secured in the rear wall 3 of the fireplace. 'The front end A of the track-bar is curved upward and is secured above the fireplace by a bolt, screw, or the like, which passes through a perforation of the end 4 of the track-bar, and the front of track extends outward beyond the fireplace to enable a kettle 5, which is carried by a hanger 6, to be brought'out clear of the fireplace. The hanger 6 depends fromthe track and is provided with a pulley 7, which is grooved and is arranged on the track-bar 1,
which is preferably round. The said hanger is provided with a depending bar or shank 8, which has a series of hooks 9, adapted for the reception of the bail 10 of the kettle 5, whereby the kettle may be arranged at the desired height to obtain the greatest benefit of the fire.
The elevated carrier forkettl'es is particularly advantageous in wash-houses, and in all other places having open fireplaces. It enables a woman or girl to handle readily without labor large preserving-kettles and the like,
and is especially desirable in the country,.
where help is not always convenient, as it is often necessary to remove a boiling vessel quickly from the fire.
What I claim is 1. An elevated carrier for fireplaces, comprising a track-bar having its rear end secured in the rear wall of a fireplace and having its front end extended out beyond the fireplace and bent upward to be secured above the fireplace, and a hanger depending from the track-bar and adapted to carry a kettle and provided with a pulley arranged on the trackbar, substantially as described.
2. An elevated carrier for fireplaces, comprising a horizontal track-bar designed to have its inner end secured toa rear wall of a fire-' place and having its front or outer end extending and bent upward to be secured above the fireplace, a hanger depending from the track-bar and provided with a bar having a series of hooks adapted for the reception of the bail of a vessel, and a'pulley journaled in the hanger and mounted on the track-bar, substantially as described.
In testimony that we claim the foregoing as our own we have hereto affixed our signatures in the presence of two witnesses.
EMANUEL STERNER. WESLEY B. AMSPCHER.
