IMPROVED CHIMNEY.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 17,418, dated April .25, 1865.
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, O. (J. PHELPS, of the city of Janesville, in the county of Rock and State of Wisconsin, have invented a new and Improved Chimney; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accimpanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.

a a are separate and independent sections united at f, as shown in Fig. l, the one being inserted into the other by means of a recess, g, on one end of the said sections and a recess, h, on the other end thereof. I construct the said section of cast=iron, with crosssections 0 c, forming-four flues, E E E E, and the whole section is composed of one piece of iron, and it is obvious that the length of the chimney depends upon the number of sections used.
d is a drawer in the lower section of the chimney to catch the ashes, and may be taken and emptied at pleasure.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The construction of chimneys (of cast-iron, or its equivalent) in sections, substantially as described, and for the purpose specified.
