SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Iatent No. 472,849, dated April 12, 1892.
Application filed September 14, 1891. Serial No. 405,645. (No model.)
invented a certain new and useful Improve-.
ment in Boxes or Baskets, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
My invention relates to a box or basket made of sheet metal and strengthened by strips of wood that pass through rows of perforations in the sheet metal to strengthen the same; and my invention consists in features of novelty hereinafter fully described, and pointed out in the claim.
Figure I is a perspective view illustrating my invention. Fig. II is a detail View showing a portion of the perforated sheet metal. Fig. III illustrates one of the strengtheningstrips. Fig. IV is a vertical section taken through one side of the box.
In the drawings, 1 represents the sides, and 2 the ends, of the box or basket.
3 represents the bottom; 4, the top bars connected to the sides "and ends of the box by rivets et and 5 corner-pieces covering the ends of the bars.
The sides and ends of the box or basket (and the bottom, if desired) are constructed of sheet metal, having perforations 6, that are made in vertical rows, andstrips of wood 7 pass through such perforations, being threaded or woven through, as shown clearlyin Figs.

I claim as-my invention- A box or basket consisting of sheet metal,
having diagonal rows of perforations and strengthening-strips passed through the perforations, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
