UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOSEPH H. FINK, OF NEWV YORK, N. Y.
FINGER-RING.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 470,751, dated March 15,-1 892. Application filed February 6, 1892. Serial No. 420,568. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH H. FINK, of New York city, New York, have invented an Innproved Finger-Ring, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to that class of finger-rings known as initial-rings, and more particularly to the manner of fastening the initial to the box. I
It consists in the various features of improvement more fully pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a cross-section of my improved finger-ring; Fig.2, a longitudinal section thereof; and Fi g. 3, a section on line a; 00, Fig. 2.
The letter a represents the box of a fingerriug, into which there is placed a base-plate b. This base-plate has a central slot with rounded edges 2). At these edges grooves b are cut into the base-plate for the reception of a ring 0. This ring has disconnected ends, so that it Will open to a slight extent under outward pressure and close after the cessation of such pressure.
Upon the plate I) there is placed the onyx d, that carries the initial 6. This initial is provided with two downwardly-projectinghooks e, that pass through perforations of the onyx and engage the inner edge of the ring 0.
down so that the hooks grasp the ring the initial is fastened in place, while by forcibly drawing the initial up the hooks will release their hold on the ring. Thus a simple, neat, and effective fastening is formed. To prevent the, ring 0 from shifting, I form a pin b on the plate I), that enters between the open ends of the ring.
That I claim is 1. The cohibination of box a with a ring 0, secured within the same, and an initial having hooks that engage said ring, substantially as specified.
2. The combination of box a with slotted plate b, an open ring 0, held thereby, and an initial having hooks that engage said ring, substantially as specified.
3. The combination of box a With open ring 0, a slotted plate I), having pin b that enters initial having hooks that engage the ring, substantially as specified.

between the ends of the open ring, and an It will be seen that by pressing the initial
