SPECiFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 469,144, dated February 16, 1892.

To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, ANTOINETTE HOWARD, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented anew and Improved Atomizer, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to improvements in atomizers; and the object of my invention is to produce an extremely simple and inexpensive atomizer which cannot easily get out of order and by means of which any liquid may be efficiently and rapidly sprayed.
The invention is more particularly an improvement in that class of atomizers in which a liquidholder or receptacle is attached to and arranged below the air or blow pipe.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar figures of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the views.
Figure 1 is a sectional side elevation of the atomizer embodying my invention, the samebeing'shown in use; and Fig. 2 is a-plan view of the atomizer.
The atomizer is provided with a small cup 10, which may be of any desired shape, and opening from the bottom of this cup is a suction-pipe 11, which is curved upward and extends to a point above the top of the cup, where it terminates in a nozzle 12. On the back side of the pipe lland near the upper end is a brace 13, to which is secured a blowpipe 14, which is arranged at right angles to the upper end of the pipe 11,'and the front end of which is reduced, as shown at 15, and arranged exact-1y opposite the upper end of the described.

To operate the atomizer the liquid to be sprayed is poured into the cup 10,and the operator places the rear end of the blow-pipe 12 in his mouth and blows steadily through it. As the air from the blow-pipe passes over the open end of the nozzle 12 asuction is created in the pipe 11, so that the liquid in the cup 10 is drawn upward through the pipe and out through the nozzle, and when this liquid comes in contact with the air from the blowpipe it will be finely sprayed, as indicated by the broken lines in Fig. 1.
This atomizer is intended tobe operated, as described, by blowing through the pipe 14; but, if desired, any artificial means may be employed for forcing air violently through the blow-'pipesuch, for instance, as an air-bulb or bellows.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- As an article of manufacture, the atomizer hereinbefore described, consisting of the blowpipe 14, the suction-pipe 11, curved downward from the nozzle of said blow-pipe and rigidly attached to the same, and the open cup or liquid-holder 10, fixed on the upturned lower end of the suction-pipe, as shown and ANTOINETTE HOWARD.
