In the drawings, Figure 1 shows the improvement as in use, and Fig. 2 illustrates the snap connection in detail.

The straps A A are shown as doubled and passed through the hame-rings B and are secured at their ends by rivets or buckles. A ring a is fitted in the strap A, as shown in Fig. 1. The snap connection B is formed at one end with a hook B to catch in the ring D of the neck-yoke and at its other end with a loop B to receive the strap A. At the said end and adjacent to the loop 13 the connection B has a hook B to receive the ring a on the strap A. This hook B faces or opens in the opposite direction from hook B. Snaptongues b b are provided to close the hooks b 13 3y preference these tongues are made integral with each other and with a handle-piece O, the snap or latch being pivoted at D to the body of the connection B. The snap or latch is actuated by the spring E, which is a wire coiled on asmall hub don the latch and having one end arranged to bear against the tongue 19 and its other tongue to bear against the body of the connection, the spring serving to normally hold the tongues b b in position to close their respective hooks.

In the use of my invention it will be seen that the holdback-straps A A can be quickly connected with or disconnected from the holdback, and that the strap A can be quickly detached from strap A by opening hook E the snap connection being carried by the strap A. By the improvement it will be seen that the wear on the holdback-strap resulting from its sliding back and forth in the yoke-ring, as is usual, is avoided; also, that the connection with the yoke may be quickly and easily made.

Manifestly chains or the like may be used instead of the straps A A, and the said straps may be provided with buckles to enable their convenient adjustment lengthwise. Manifestly the loop B may be arranged, as shown at right angles to the body of the snap, or, if desired, it may be arranged parallel therewith. It will also be understood that an antifriction roller or tube may be provided onthe cross-bar of the loop to prevent wearing the strap A.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is 1. As an improved article of manufacture, the snap connection herein described, formed with-hook B at one end and the loop B and hook I3 at its opposite end and provided with a latch or snap formed with tongues Z) 11 to close the hooks B B and a handle portion, and the spring for actuating such snap or latch, all substantially as and for the purposes set forth.

2. The combination, substantially as herein described, of the snap connection provided at one end with a hook for engaging the neckyoke ring and at its other end with a loop and with a hook adjacent thereto, a double springtongue for closing the hooks, and the holdbacks, one of the holdbacks being secured in the loop and the other in the adjacent hook, all substantially as and-for the purposes set forth.

The improved snap connection herein described, comprising the main or body portion formed at one end with a hook B, at its opposite end with a loop B and having between said hook and loop a hook E the latter being adjacent to the loop 13 and the double spring-tongue having a pivoted connection with the body portion and arranged for adjustment to close the hooks B B all arranged and adapted for use substantially as set forth.
