SHOW CASE 0R WINDOW DISPLAY STAND. No. 463,667.
l UNITED4 STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JULIUS C. MEISEANBACH, O F FREEPORTQILLINOIS.
SHOW-CASE ORWINDOW DISPLAY-STAN D.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 463,667, dated November 24, 1891.
Application fled January 19, 1891. Serial No. 378,262. (No model.) d
T0 all whom it may concern- Be it known that I, JULIUs O. MEIsENBAcH a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Freeport, in the county of Stephenson and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Show- Cases or Window Display-Stands, of which the following is a specification.
y This invention relates to an adjustable stand or frame-work designed to furnish a support for articles displayed in show-cases or windows; and it is intended to be so constructedthatits size and shape maybe adapted to the space which may be at its disposal, so that it can be applied to use in a great many different places and readily changed from one to another.
To such end it consists in certain essential features of the device described below, which are clearly pointed out in the appended claims.
This device is illustrated in the drawings by means of five figures, ot' which- Figure 1 is a vertical section in line 1 1 of Fig. 2. Fig. 2 isa vertical section in line 2 2 of Fig. 1; and Figs. 3, 4, and 5 are perspective views of details.v
In the figures, A A are upright standards secured to base-plates ct a', provided with screw-holes, by means of which they may be fastened to the bottom of the show-case or window. The standard A is hinged at a2, and both it and the standard A are constructed of tubes and havel telescoped into them at some portion extension-rods A2,which are here shown as terminating in ornamental ends a3. Cross-pieces B are also constructed of tubes, all or a portion of which have extension-pieces B telescoping into them and are secured to the standards by clamps D, tightened about said standards and at the same time secured to the cross-pieces by screws d. Similar clamps E are provided for the cross-pieces; but instead of embracing between their ends the rods B they are bent into angle-pieces e, which in the case of the end frames are single angle-pieces, as seen in Fig. 3, and in the case of the intermediate frames are double angle-pieces, as seen in Fig. 4. Extensible angle-plates F are made by constructing them in two portions, sliding one upon the other and clamped together by a binding-screw f. These angleplates are fastened to the horizontal portions of the pieces E, as seen in Figs. 1 and 2, and furnish a rest for the trays or rods that may be required to support the articles to be displayed. If rods are desired, they can be made of tubes having telescopin g portions, or if a broad support is desired trays may be constructed, as illustrated in Fig. 5, consisting of metal plates G G', turned back upon themselves at their edges and telescoping together.
The above apparatus is adjustable in each of its dimensions. To increase its height, the standardsA A are lengthened by pulling out their extension-pieces A2 and securing them in place by means of set-screws a4, threaded in the tubes A A and bearing-upon the rods A2. The telescoping cross-pieces B B' will accommdate themselves to the change in the standards, and the angle-plates F can be adjusted by means of thelbinding-screws f. To widen the stand at the bottom, the plates a a need only to be separated and secured at the desired distance apart. If it is desired to widen the stand at the top also, the setscrew b should be loosened, the cross-pieces at the top drawn out, and clamped in its new adjustment. Both of these changes will necessitate an adjustment of the angle-plates F. To lengthen the stand the supporting-frames need only to be placed farther apart and the telescoping trays drawn out to the 'desired length.
I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. The combination, with suitable trays, of upright extensible standards, cross-pieces secured to said standards, and supportingclamps adjustably secured to the cross-pieces and carrying the trays, substantially as described.
2. The combination of extensible upright standards, extensible cross-pieces adj ustably clamped thereto, supporting-clam ps secured portingclamps adjustably secured to the to the eross-pieees, angle-plates adjustably eross-pieees and furnishing a support for the :o secured to the clamps, and extensible trays trays, substantially as described.
adapted to rest upon the anode-pieces sub- 1 f T ,A 1 Y 5 stantially as described. o' JULIUD C' MILISEB LACH' 3. The combination, with suitable trays, of Witnesses: upright extensiblestandards, extensible eross- T. K. GREENWOOD,
pieces secured to said standards, and sup- ALFRED FRUEI-I.
