the outlet, the discharge end of 4tho'iul-ct. duct a is situated at one sideof the float, so that it cannot "discharge directly beneath the float. As a further precaution n shield is placed between theinlet and float. This shield preferably consists of a. jacket Il',wl1ch surrounds the dont, and is preferably -foruied athottoi'n with an oiiseth, that rests upon the base A, and al contracted portion 7i', that occupies the annular groove a? and surrounds the lower This jacket is ot' such-diameter that but little space is I cft betweeuit und theeasiug B, and-to provide for the llrec upward passage of the a-'ir or steam :t crimp or groove h2 is formed in its side opposite the inlet e. l'It is also provided at o r near its bottom, and preferably opposite the inlet a3, with an opening h3, through which wid-'or may escape. v

In'orderto increase the superficie-l area of the post E it is made hollow, sind in order to admit haatte its' interior it .isprovided with. encor more lateral perforations e.
By'providing the inner end ofLscrew C with counterborc c', it nets ns n guidciorthe valve G and insures its proper seating.
Having thus described my invention, the following is what I claim ns new therein and desire to Secure by Letters Patent:
