dispensing with mortises, thus rendering allparts readily accessible for'eleansing, reducing the cost of manufacture, increasing the strength of the bedstead, and adapting it to be put together and taken a part with greater facility. j A

To enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to fully understand and use the same, I will now proceed to describe it. V

In the accompanying drawings, A A represent the lposts of a bedstead, the middle parts of which are formed square. end rail, secured between the Aposts A A in the manner to be described. jecting from the sides ofthe posts, or may have hooksi attached -to them, which4 engage in metallic loops or eyes t" on the inner/sides of thel posts A A, thus allowing the headboard' to be securely attached to the bed-frame between the posts A A, and also'to be quickly 'and easily detached when it is desired to take the bedstead to pieces.

Having thus described my invention, the following is what I claim as new therein and desire to secure by Letters Patent:

1. The lugs C and E, constructed and apflzmges e', for securing the lugs e within the plied substantially as .herein shown and deg posts, substantially as and for the puposes scribed, to secure the parts of the bedsteads E 'herein set forth. together without mortises.
