Description
UNITED STATES- PATENT OFFICE.
EDIVARD H. KING, OF OLAREMONT, NEIV HAMPSHIRE.
COP OR BOBBIN.
SPECIFICATION forming'part of Letters Patent No. 458,369, dated August 25, 1891.
Application filed February 16, 1891- Serial No. 381,608. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD H. KING, of Claremont, in the county of Sullivan, State of New Hampshire, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Oops or Bobbins, of which the following is a description sufficiently full, clear, and exact to enable any person skilled in the art or science to which said invention appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings,fo1'ming part of this specification, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved bobbin; Fig. 2, a vertical transverse section of the same.
Like letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the different figures of the drawings.
My invention relates especially to a singlehead bobbin or cop; and it consists in certain novel features, hereinafter fully set forth and claimed, the object being to produce a more effective article of this character than is now in ordinary use.
The nature and operation of the improvement will be readily understood by all conversant with such matters from the following explanation.
In the drawings, A represents the cop c011- sidered as a whole, said cop being of the ordinary form and construction. Its head bis provided with a covering of corduroy cl or similar material. The cop is provided with the usual spindle-openin g f. On the neck It a metallic tube on is driven, or metal may be spun thereon by any suitable means. This metallic casing prevents the wood of said neck from becoming rough and splintering,
and diminishes the friction of the yarn as it EDYVARD H. KING.
