AIJPHONSUS L. DALY, OF BINGHAMTON, NEW YORK.
COMBINED TOOL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 457,526, dated August 11, 1891.
Application filed May 21, 1891. Serial No. 393,577- (No model.)
.To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ALPHONSUS L. DALY, of Binghamton, in the county of Broome, in the State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Combined Tools,
of which the following, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, .is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to combination-tools.
My object is to produce such a tool, especially adapted for the use of persons engaged in handling tobacco-cases, boxes, or freight packages of any description where a hook may be conveniently employed.
My invention consists in the several novel featuresof constructionhereinafter described, and which are specifically set forth in the claim hereunto annexed. It is constructed as follows, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a view of the combined tool complete. Fig. 2 is a view of the removable claw and wrench detached.
A is the body of the tool, constructed at one end with an upturned point 1, forming a hook, and provided at its opposite end with a handle 2. Just below the handle and progins to form, I construct a projection 4, continuous with the body, thereby forming a hammer.
B is the removable claw and wrench, provided near the claw end with aloop 5, adapted to encircle the hook and havingits opposite end bifurcated, as shown at 6, forming a wrench and adapted to fit around the base of the hammer and be held in place thereby. The lateral faces of the hammer are preferably reduced in size at their base, so as to allow the wrench to slide freely therein, allowing a shoulder to be left for the purpose of more securely holding the same in place.
7 is a nail-claw or box-opening device.
That I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A combination-tool consisting of a body A, having a hook at one end and a handle at its opposite end, an outwardly-projecting claw near the handle,a hammer mounted centrally upon the opposite side, and the removable piece B, adapted to be secured upon the body A, substantially as, described, for the purposes set forth.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 15th day of May, 1891.
ALPHONSUS L. DALY.
In presence of- F. W. JENKINS, B. BRENNAN.
