Be it known that I, GERALDINE OBR1EN,a subject of the Queen of Great Britain, but residing at Boston, county of Suffolk, and State of Massachusetts, have invented an Improve: ment in Oombination-Garments, of which the following description, in connection with. the accompanying drawings, is a specification, like letters and figures on the drawings representing like parts. 7

This invention is intended as an improvement on the garment represented in United States Patent No. 374,307, dated September 6, 1887. The garment represented in the said patent is composed of two like halves joined together from the neck, part way down the back, one to the other, the selvage edges of same leg being joined from the lower end upward to a point near or some distance above the knee, at which point is inserted the lower ends of separate knitted strips or sections, which are united in the back of the garment, one edge to one-half of the back, and one edge to the other half of the back the upper edges of the strips or sections overlapping each other forming two thicknesses of garment at that point. It is of great moment in a garment of this kind to have as little additional thickness as possible at and about the waist, and I have therefore devised a gore-.

strip which, where it is united in the back of the garment at and about the waist, is of single thickness, such a gore-piece besides being thinner being more easily applied and in less time than where two distinct and separate pieces have to be united into the garment.

Figure l is a rear elevation of a garment embodying my invention; Fig. 2, a front view thereof, and Fig. 3 a detached View showing the gore separated from the garment.

The garment herein represented is composed of two like halves A A B B, A B designating the body portions and A B the leg portions. The body portions are joined together, or one to the other, along the seam a at the back, which extends from the neck down to a point a at or near the center of the waist. The selvage edges of each leg are united from the point a, about at the ankle, to the point a at or near the knee, thus forming tubular legs.

The edge 6 of the part c of the gore is carried through to the front of the garment and attached to the selvage edge of the leg A by the line of stitches f, as represented in Fig. 2, Whereas the edge 7 of the part c of the gore is attached by the line of stitches f to the front of the leg B.

The body and leg parts AA 13 B are and may be made as provided for in the said patent, and the lower ends 0 c of the gore herein shown will be united into and with the said fabric of the said halves, as represented in the said patent; but instead of employing two separate gores or sections, as in the said patent, one overlapping the other at the back of the waist, I have made the said gore in a single piece, the upper portion 0 of the gore being a single thickness or one fabric, while the lower portion of the gore is "bifurcated and made in two parts. In another application, Serial No. 380,496, filed by me February 6, 1891, I have shown this same gore united in and forming part of a garment, such as represented in United States Patent No. 315,093, said garment differing from the garment represented in United States Patent No. 374,307, in that the former patent has a front flap which the latter patent does not contain.

Having described my invention, I claim- The herein-described combination-garment,

comprising body and leg portions made con tinuous with each other and separated at the back of the garment to a point above the waist-line, each leg portion being united to a portion ofitself to form a tubular leg, and a gore-piece having a triangular upper end of single thickness with bifurcated triangular lower ends cc, the upper end or tab 0 of the gore of single thickness being inserted in the back of the garment and secured to both halves of the same, whereas the depending bifurcated triangular portions or tabs 0 c are united wholly along one side'and for part of name to this specification in the presence of 20 two subscribing witnesses.
