Patented May 12, 1891.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOSHUA DAVIES, OF DUDLEY, COUNTY OF VVOROESTER, ENGLAND.
SHOW-STAN D.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters PatentxNo. 451,919, dated May 12, 1891.
Application filed September 9, 1890. Serial No. 364,434. (No model.) Patented in England September 13, 1888, No. 13,254.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JOSHUA DAVIES, residing at Dudley,in the county of Vorcester and Kingdom of Great Britain, have invented certain new and useful improvements entitled an Improved Stand for Holding Blocked Goods in Position, (for which I have obtained a patent in England, No. 13,254, dated September 18, 1888;) and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to show-stands; and it consists in the novel construction and combination of the parts, hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the stand, and Fig. 2 is also a perspective view of the said stand with a larger base.
D is the upright portion of the stand, consisting of a single piece of metal bent double and having its lower ends bent outwardly to formthe feet B and O.
A is a rivet for securing the upright double portions of the stand together.
E is a plate secured to the feet B and O,
and E is another plate secured at right angles to the said plate E, and thereby affording a larger base for the stand. The goods to be eXhibited--such as rolls of cloth-are slipped over the upright portion D; The upper end of the portion D or blade is solid, and is adapted to be thrust between the folds of the goods.
What I claim is 1. A show-stand consisting of a single piece of metal bent double and riveted together, forming a blade having a solid upper end, and provided with feet B and C, substantially as set forth.
2. A show-stand consisting of a single piece of metal bent double and riveted together, forming a blade having a solid upper end, and provided with the feet B and C, in combination with the crossed plates E and E, secured together and to the said feet, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
JOSHUA DAVIES. Vitnesses:
DUGALD CLERK, WILLIAM EVANS.
