PERSPIRATION-POWDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 446,778, dated February 17, 1891.
' Application filed November 18, 1890. Serial No. 371,833. (No specimens.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Beit known that I, SARAH G. HULL, of Ok1ahoma, in the county of Oklahoma, Oklahoma Territory, have invented a new and Improved Deodorizing Compound for the Body, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This compound or composition of matter has for its object the prevention of offensive odors from certain or the more perspirable portions of the human bodysuch, for instance, as the armpits and feet.
The compound consists of burnt and pulverized alum and quinine, the latter acting as a tonic and the former as an astringent. Thus I take burnt and ground alum and sift it through a fine sieve, and to each half-pound of such prepared alum add about twenty grains (more or less) of quinine and thoroughly mix the two ingredients together, when the compound is ready for use;
Such compound is applied externally. Thus it is applied to the flesh or parts to be treated and rubbed thereinas, for instance, to the armpits and soles of the feet. A favorable time for applying it is after bathing orin the morning when making the toilet. The compound-is generally harmless and the application of it does not interfere with free or healthy perspiration from the parts or members treated with it.

The deodorizing composition for topical application to the human body, which consists of quinine and finely-p11] verized burntalum,
in about the proportions of twenty grains of the former to eight ounces of the latter, substantially as specified.
