PATENT PHILIP IIISE, OF CINCINNATI, OHIO.
DCOR-SECURER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 445,273, dated January 2'7, 1891.
Application tiled April 26, 1890. Serial No. 349,644. (No model.)
T0 @ZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PHILIP IIISE. a citizen of the United States, residing at Cincinnati, in the county of llamilton and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Door-Securer, ot' which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to improvements in door-securers.
'lhe object of the present invention is to provide a simple, inexpensive, and eflicient door-securer adapted to be conveniently carried and capable of being readily adjusted to a door without injuring or defacing the casing.
The invention consists in the construction and novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter full57 described'illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claim hereto appended.
In the drawings, Figure l is a perspective view oi a door-securer constructed in accordance with this invention and shown applied in operative position to a door. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view ofthe same. Fig.
3 is a traiilsverse sectional View. Figs. 4, 5, and G are detail views of the parts separated.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, l. designates a door-securer, constructed of suitable metal and composed ot sections 2 and 3, adapted to engage a door and its casing, and having their opposed faces 4 and 5 provided with teeth or corrugations reversely shouldered and adapted to engage each other to prevent the sections when fitted together slipping longitudinally along each other. Each section has one end (5 bent laterally and adapted to engage the door? or casingS, and the end 6 of the section 2 is fitted in the recess of the lock-plate of the easing 8, and the door is then closed to secure the section 2, and the other section has its laterally-bent end 6 arranged opposite and projectingr from the end of the section 2, and the said laterally-bent end of the section 2 is fitted against the door, and the corrugated or shouldered faces of the sections are brought together to prevent the sections slipping and to secure the door. The section 2 is provided with a longitudinal slot 9, extending inward from the end l0, and the other section is provided with a block il, secured centrally to and longitudinally along the shouldered face of the section 3, and provided with side faces l2. that incline inward and converge toward the section, and in order to secure the block in the longitudinal slot 9 to hold the teeth 4f and into engagement with each other and prevent the sections slipping a key-plate i3 is employed. rlhekey-plate lis provided with a longitudinal slot 14, having beveled side walls adapted to engage the inwardly-inclined faces 12 of the block to press the teeth into engage ment with cach other, and the said plate 13 is provided at one end with a vertical iiange 15, which serves as a handle and enables the key-plate to be readily brought into and removed from engagement with the blocl; il.
It will readily be seen that the door-securer is simple, effective, and inexpensive in construction and adapted to be readily applied and quickly adjusted to any door, and capable of securely holding the same.
In a door-securer, the combination of the sections 2 and 3, provided with laterally-bent ends 6 and having their opposed faces provided with teeth oppositely shouldered, the section 2 having the longitudinal slot 9, the block 1l, secured to the section and provided with inwardly-inchned sides l2 and adapted to be arranged in the slot 9, and thc key-plate provided with the slot. il and having the beveled edges and adapted toengage the block, substantially as described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto aiiixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
PHILIP IIISE.
W'itnesses:
SAMUEL Fonsv'rnn, JNO. HAnRIsoN.
