TRACK FOR WALL-PAPER-PASTIYNG MACHINE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 439,789, dated November 4, 1890.

VTo all whom it may concern.-

Beit known that I,PETER MCQUENEY, a citizen of the United States, and a resi-dent of East Akron, in the county of Summit, State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tracks for Vall-Paper- Pasting Machines; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, in which- Figure l is a View showing the track properly elevated and a wall-paper machine located thereon. Fig. 2 is a detached "View of one of the track-clamps Fig. 3, an edge view of the track, showing' the same braced. Fig. 4 is transverse view of the track-sections. Fig. 5 is a detached view of one of the brace-wire clamps. Fig. 6 is a detached view of the truck.

The present invention has relation to tracks for wall-paper-pasting machines; and it consists in the different parts and combination of parts hereinafter described, and particularly pointed out in the claims.

Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures of the drawings.

In the accompanying drawings, A represents the track-sections, which maybe of any desired length, and the rails composing the track proper are securely held the desired distance apart by means of the braces a.

For the purpose of adjusting the length of the track proper to different-sized rooms one of the sections is provided with the tongues b, which tongues it correspondinglysized grooves b in the opposite section.

For the purpose of securely holding' the meeting `portions'of the track-sections A together the clamps B are provided, which are substantially of the form shown in Fig. 2.

For the purpose of preventing the `track proper from sagging the brace-wires c and rods C are provided, as shown in Fig. 3, and which are adj ustably made fast by means of friction blocks d, having bolts d passing therethrough'and around which the bracewires c are looped. Upon screwing up said bolts Vt-he brace wires and rods are securely held against slipping.

The rods C are attached to the ends of the track-sectionsAby being bent or hooked around said ends. These rods are shown as being jointed, but I do not confine myself to such construction. These brace-wires are shown in side elevation in Fig. 3, but are omitted in Fig. l for the sake of clearness as to the other parts. If desired, the rods O may be jointed, as illustrated in F-ig. 3. For the purpose of properly tightening the brace-wires c, and thereby prevent the trackl proper from sagging while in use, the cross-bar D is provided, which is placed against the under side of the tracksections A. The cross-bar D has attached thereto the arms E, which arms are provided with the notches e, which notches secure and hold the catches f, loca-ted ou and pivoted to the sliding bar g. It will be understood that the brace-wires c are to pass under the sliding bar g, as illustrated in the drawings, and that as the sliding bar g is pressed or forced downward it will tighten the brace-wires c and securely hold said brace-wires by means of the notches e and catches f.V When it is desired to adjust the length of the brace-wires c, the clamping-bolts d are loosened, when the end or ends of the brace-wires c are free to be taken up or let out, as desired.

In use a derrick-such as G-is placed in each corner of the room designed to be. papered, and the track placed uponbars-such as h-which are held at the desired height by means of the adjustable standard h.

For the purpose of moving the pasting-machine H back and forth upon the track proper the truck or carriage I is provided, and for the purpose of permitting the truck I to pass from one section onto the adjacent section the double-grooved traveling wheels .I are provided. i

For the purpose of providing a means for moving the truck I, together with the pastingmachine, the pulley K is attached to the track-section and the cord K attached to the truck I and passed'over said pulley K.

For the purpose of causing the Catches f to automatically engage the notches c as the sliding bar g is pressed or forced downward, the springs g' are provided, which springs press against the free ends of the catches f.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent. is-

1. The combination of the track-sections 5 A, having the tongues and grooves Z9 and b',

the brace-Wires c, the clamping-bolts CZ, the

retaining-blocks d', the cross-bar D, the arms E, provided With the notches e, the springcatehes j', and the sliding bar g, substantially xo as and for the purpose specified.

2. The combination of the track-sections A, tongued and grooved together and provided with the braces a, the clamps B, the brace-Wires c, and inea-ns for tightening said brace-wires, substantially as and for the pur- 15 pose specified.
