SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent o. 434,729, dated August 19, 1890. Application filed January 29, 1890. Serial No. 388,542. (No model.)

To all whom it may aannam.-

Beit known that I, ALBERT REDEI'ELB SEA- MAN, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at New Cumberland, in the county of Hancock and State of West Virginia, have invented a new and useful Honey-Extractor, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements inhoney-extractors; and it has for its object to simplify and cheapen the construction and render more efficient in operation this class of devices.

To these ends and tosuch others as the invention may pertain the same consists in the peculiar construction and in the novel combination, arrangement, and adaptation of parts, all as more particularly hereinafter described, shown in the accompanying drawings, and then specifically defined in the appended claims.

The invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, which, with the letters of reference marked thereon, form a part of this speciiicatiomlike letters of reference indicating the same parts throughout the several views, and in which drawings- Figure l is a perspective view of a honeyextractor embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the honey-pan. Fig. 3 is a central longitudinal section of the same; and Fig. 4 is an enlarged detail view, partly in section, of the base of the sway-pole.

Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A represents a shaft or sway-pole, the lower end of which is provided with a ball a, which is stepped within a corresponding recess in the casting a', said casting being secured to the floor of the apartment by means of screws a2, passed through suitable holes in the casting provided for the The sway-pole is inclined at a slight angle from a true vertical line and has its upper end passed loosely through an opening b, which is provided in the horizontal arm K near its free end. The opposite end of the arm K is pivoted upon the pin C, depending from the ceiling.

E is a horizontal arm, which is adjustably attached at one of its ends to the sway-pole in any suitable manner, and near its outer end provided with a plurality of apertures F, with any one of which the double hook e may be engaged, and from the hooked ends of said hook is suspended the honey-pan H, by means of the bails f. rlhe honeypan H is a rectanguiar pan, having near its vertical center upon the interior an inwardly-extending iiange h, designed to receive the honey-support I, of some suitable reticulated medium-such as Wire-gauze. It is provided at the ends with suitable handles t', by which it is manipulated.

The device may be operated by any suitable means; but it has been my practice to operate it by hand, sufiicient speed being thus obtained to extract all of the liquid honey. The honey in the comb is placed on the support I and the pole rotated, as will be readily understood. The centrifugal force immediately carries the honey-pan outward to a lateral position, and the same force quickly expels the honey from the cells of the comb to the bottom of the pan beneath the reticulated medium.

NVhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is*

1. The combination, with the sway-pole having its lower end retained in a socket and its upper end connected with a swinging arm, of the horizontal arm connected with the pole near its upper end, and a honey-pan suspended from the said arm, substantially as shown and described.

2. The combination, with the upright swaypole having itsY lower end in a socket, of the fixed pin C, depending from the ceiling, the horizontal arm pivoted vat one of its'ends upon said pin and its opposite end` pivotally connected with the upper end of the sway-pole, the adj ustablc horizontal arm connected with the pole near its upper end, the double hooks adjustable on said arm, and a honey-pan having a bail suspended from said hooks, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
