HENRY II. BROWN AND WILLIAM M. BOLD, OF DECATUR, ILLINOIS; SAID BOLD ASSIGNOR TO SAID BROWVN.
NAIL FOR BOX-CORNERS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 433,443, dated August 5, 1890. Application filed January 3, 1890 Serial No. 336,761. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that we, HENRY I-I. BROWN and WILLIAM M. BOLD, of the city of Decatur, county of Macon, and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improve ments in Nails for Box-Corners, of which the following is a specification.
In the drawings accompanying and forming a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a perspective view of our device. Fig. 2 is an elevation or side view. Fig. 3 is an edge view, and Fig. 4 shows how the device may be applied to a box-corner.
The blank a has on its lower edge two sets of teeth I) cand e d, that are pitched or inclined in opposite directions and set as indicated. It also has at its upper corners the rectangular lugs or stays a a.
In operation the device is set with one pair of teeth on one piece to be joined and the other pair on the other piece, and is driven 01' otherwise forced into the wood. The pitch or incline of the teeth draws the pieces together, the set causes the teeth of each pair to diverge and dovetail in the wood, and the lugs help to prevent the pieces from drawing apart.
The number of teeth, size of the blank, and degree of inclination in the various parts may be Varied Without affecting the principle of our invention, which consists in the following, which we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent.
V 1. A corner-nail comprising a sheet-metal blank having two sets of teeth inclined in opposite directions and set, as set forth.
2. A corner-nail comprising a sheet-metal blank having two sets of teeth inclined in opposite directions and set, and havinglrlgs extending rectangularly from its upper corners, as set forth.
In testimony whereof we sign our names in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
