HERMAN TAPPAN, or NEW YORK, N. Y.
PERFUME-HOLDER] SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters :Patent No. 432,451, dated July 15, 1890.
.Application 'filed May 9, 1890. Serial No. 351,137. (No model.)
JTo a/ZZ whoml t may concern:
Be it known that I, HERMAN TAPPAN, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Perfume- Holder, of which the followin g is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of the invention is to provide a newv and improved perfume-holder which is simple and durable in construction, prevents breaking of the glass bottle or flask and leak-` age of the perfuinery, and is. highly ornamental in appearance.
The invention consists of certain parts and details'and combinations of the same, as will be hereinafter fully described, and then pointed out in the claims.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, rforining a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure ll is a side elevation of the improvement. Fig. 2 is a sectional side elevation of the same; and Fig. 8 is a plan view of the same.
The improved perfume-holder A is provided With a base B, preferably made of metal cast in suitable shape and provided with a top opening C, into which extends the bottom D of a bottle or flask E, having the usual neck F, formed with a thread on its outside.
A collar G is itted over the neck, and is adapted to rest with its bottom on the upper part of the bottle or flask proper E, as is plainly shown in Figs. l and 2, so that the upper end of the base is about in line With the said collar, as is plainly shown in Fig.. l, the bottle or flask being made spherical, so as to give an ornamental appearance to the holder, as shown. The collar G is connected byV curved rods II with the base B, in order to hold the collar, the flask or bottle, and the base together, at the saine time forming a guard for the glass bottle or ask. In order to conveniently fasten each rod II to the base B and the collar G, the ends of cach rod are provided with hooks Il and H2, respectively, adapted to be sprung into suitable openings in the collar G and the base B, as is plainly shown in Fig. 2.
On the exterior thread of' the neck F is.
adapted to screw a cap I, fitted to pass at its lower end onto the top of the collar G, so as to additionally lock the latter in place. A packing-ring J is placed on the inside of the cap I, and is adapted to pass onto the top of the cork or stopper K, placed in the neck F. The cap I, with its packing J, prevents all leakage, at the same time forming an orn'amental head for the perfume-holder. A bail L is secured on the collar G, for conveniently support-in g the holder and carrying the same about.
It will be seen that when the bottle or flask E is filled andthecork K and cap I are in position the perfuinery is not likely to leak, and the flask is not liable to be broken on account of' being securely protected by the rods I-I, which serve the double purpose of holding the several parts together, as well as forming a cage for the glass bottle or flask.
Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patentl. A perfume-holder comprising a base, a glass bottle or flask supported on the said base and provided with a neck, a collar held on the said neck, bent rods hooked on the said base and the said collar to hold the several parts together and to form a guard fo'r the said bottle or flask, and a cap held on the said neck of the bottle or flask and adapted to engage the said collar, substantially as shown and described.
2. A perfume-holder comprising a base, a bottle supported on the said base and provided with a threaded neck, a collar held on the said neck, bent rods connecting the said collar with the said base, and a cap screwing on the said threaded neck against the said collar, substantially as shown and described.
3. A perfume-holder comprising a base, a bottle supported on the said base and provided with a threaded neck, a collar held on the said neck, bent rods connecting the said collar with the said base, a cap screwing on the said threaded neck against the said collar, and a bail held on the said collar for convenicntlyholding the holder, Substantially :LS lar, and a. packing-ring held in the Said cap shown and described. and adapted to pass over the cork in the ro 4. A perfume-holder comprising :L base, n neck of the bottle, substantiallyas Shown and bottle supported on the said base and prodescribed.
5 vided with a threaded neck, :L collar held on HERMAN TAPPAN.
the said neck, bent rods connecting the said XVtneSSeS: collar with the said base, :L cap screwing on GEORGE Y. XVALSH, the said threaded neck against the said eol- JOHN E. WARREN, Jr.
