TOPICAL REMEDY.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 428,982, dated May 27, 1890.
Application filed December 26, 1889. Serial No. 335,069. (No specimens.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GERTRUDE G. VEL- LINGTON, M. D., a citizen of the United States, residing in St Paul, in the county of Ramsey and State of Minnesota, have in vented an Improved Medical Compound, of which the following is a specification.
This medical compound is for the use of females, and to be introduced into the vaginal canal in cases of inflammation due to laceration of the oervi uteri in. cases of cancerous form ations,ulcers, prolapsus,acute and chronic ovaritis, and for the relief of various diseases and abnorn'ial conditions of the female sexual organs.
The formula for the material made use of for the above-named purposes consists of oil of eucalyptus, one ounce; oil-of rosemary, one dram; oil of olives, two ounces, and nitrate of silver, one tenth of a grain. These substances, in about the foregoing proportions, are intimately mixed and used for the purposes aforesaid.
I find it advantageous to saturate cotton with the aforesaid material and use the same as a tampon introduced into the vaginal canal.
I I claim as my invention The medicinal compound for Vaginal diseases, consisting of oil of eucalyptus, oil of rosemary, olive oil, and nitrate of silver, in about the proportions specified.
