To all whom it may concern: v

Beit known that I, EUGENE DENZEL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Glen Ullin, in the county of Morton, Dakota Territory, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sale Cards or Pamphlets; and I do declarethe following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention,- such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and gures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

My invention relates to sale cards, books, or pamphlets.

The object of my improvement isto provide an effective system of accounts between partiesengaged in trade, whereby business may beconducted upon the advance-payment plan, the credit system, or the rebate method, or the combination of any two or all of these systems.

For the above purposes my invention consists in the following combination of parts and devices, a detailed description of which will be given and the features of novelty then set forth in the claims.

Figure l represents a plan of my creditfolder, as I term it, spread out or unfolded, it being an outside view, Fig. 2 represents a similar view of the reverse side.

It will be understood that in the normal shape or position of the device the sheets or pages A and B are on the outside, the pages being folded on the lines a a. y

On the reverse of page B, which is page D, Fig. 2, I have arranged a series of numerals G in series, as shown. There are on this page five series of numerals Gin the denomination of cents, each series representing five hundred cents in the aggregate, or five dollars. These series I prefer to arrange along the sides and bottom of the sheet, so as to be within easy reach of a canceling or perforating punch.

In each series there are, preferably, thirty separate amounts or numerals, which, added, make the sum of live dollars. There are three amounts of one cent each, four of two cents,

three of three cents, two of ive cents, three of ten cents, four of fifteen cents, four of twenty cents, four of twenty-live cents, two of fifty cents, and one of one hundred cents.

l represents the space in the upper lefthand corner where the number of the creditfolder may be recorded, and 2 the amount of money in merchandise which the folder represents. Page D may also have printed or inscribed upon it any conditions of purchase or desired information or directions. For instance, I have had printed on it the words Not transferable, and a statement that the folder is Issued to Hr. on conditions named on back hereof, also, the words In account with dealers in and, also, Finder will please return this to the above firm. I also prefer to print the words five dollars in connection with each series of numerals on said page D.

Page E contains a tabulated record of purchases, each of which is to be marked down with the date thereof by the merchant before punching the corresponding amount in the numerals or combination of numerals on page D. Information to this effect is printed on page E, and 3 3 represent the date and amount columns for carrying out this provision.

Page F contains a notenvhich, in the credit system, is given by the purchaser of the folder in consideration of the value thereof in merchandise. It is made out corresponding in number and amount to the folder to which it is attached, and it is detached before the folder is given the purchaser and retained by the dealer or merchant. For this purpose I prefer to perforate or indent the line a, in order that it may be readily detached.

On page C, the reverse of page F, may be printed a memorandum or receipt for the note, or any other memoranda which may be desirable.

On page A, the reverse of page E, I prefer to print the merchants name and an advertisement of his business, attractively displayed, as shown.

On page B, the reverse of page D, I print, preferably, the terms and rules governing the purchase of these folders. Thus I may print a statement that a rebate of a given percent- IOO um or amount Will be allowed if paid for in advance, or that a certain sum or percentum Will be deducted if paid Within a stated time, and that no deduction will be made if the note be not then paid. There may be a statement also that a certain percentum will be charged on the note after a specified time. On this page I prefer to print also that a given amount in trade Will be paid as a rebate on this folder Where goods to the amount of a given sum (say twenty-five dollars) have been purchased in cash. Other conditions r attractive advertising matter may be displayed thereon. v

I have given a detailed description and illustration of my invention; but it will be obvious and readily understood that I may change in many respects the arrangement of my credit-folder. For instance, I may make the folder represent more or less than that amount.

The disposition and amount of the separate numerals may also be changed. In like manner the other features of my improvement may be modified or transposed from one page to another. The note Fis adapted to fold upon page D, and the latter to fold up against page E, with the note between them, so that the creditefolder presents a compact arrangement and may be readily carried about.

Vhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, isW

l. A sale-card or credit-folder comprising a single piece adapted to be folded into three leaves, one leaf bearing a note or promise to pay, one leaf a series of numerals adapted to be punched out, and one leaf a tabulated statement containing the separate amounts and dates of purchase, substantially as set forth.

2. A sale card or folder composed of leaves, one leaf containing adisposition of numerals adapted to be punched out `and another a tabulated statement for the amounts and dates of purchase, substantially as described.

3. A leaf or leaves comprisingl a leaf on which is printed a detachable notea leaf or leaves containing a series of numerals adapted to be punched out, and a leaf or leaves containing a tabulated form for recording the dates and the amounts punched out, substantially as described.
