UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ESTHER A. ROOT, OF HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT, ADMINISTRATRIX OF FRANKLIN ROOT, DECEASED.
CURTAIN-FIXTU RE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 424,224, dated March 25, 1890.
Application filed April 23, 1888. Serial No. 271,518- (No model.)
' To all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that FRANKLIN ROOT, now deceased, but late of Hartford, in the county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, invented certain new and useful Improvements Pertaining to Curtain-Fixtures, whereof the following is a description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, wherein- Figure 1 is a front viewof a curtain-fixture embodying said improvements. Fig. 2 is a side view, on an enlarged scale, of one of the bearing-blocks hereinafter described.
The object of this invention is to provide an improved bracket or bearing-block for supporting the curtain and cords; and the nature of the invention is particularly pointed out in the claim.
Reference being had to the drawings, wh erein, in Fig. 1, is illustrated a curtain supported by cords arranged on said improved bracket, a denotes the curtain, and b the roller, which, for the purposes of this invention, may be of anyof the ordinary spring-balance fixtures. The curtain-roller is shown supported at one end by a trunnion f, arranged in a hook-plate c, to which is connected one end of a cord (1, carried over the fastening-screws of the brackets and joined to the cord e. On the trunnion f' of the roller is arranged a shaft-plate g, having one end of the cord 6 connected thereto, substantially as shown at Z. To the lower end of the shaft-plate g is connected a cord 7t, as shown at l, and then carried down and arranged about a pulley in a support 02, held in place by a screw 0, and thence upward through the loop 0 of the clamp-hook p. This arrangement affords a practical instance of a curtain supported by said improved brackets or bearing-blocks.
The improved bracket or bearing-blocks will now be described, being two in number and both alike. Each consists, essentially, of a face-piece 1, having projected therefrom two horizontal]y-arranged arms or posts .9 t, with the opening it between the inner free ends 01' bases for the passage of the screwo, the stem of which constitutes the bearing for the cords and passes through the opening a into the window-casing, and the rounded body of the screw serves as a smooth rounded surface whereon the cords may run.
The letter 4; denotes cord-guides projected laterally from the sides of the bearing-blocks,
Administmt rise on the estate of Franklin Root,
deceased.
