To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, WILLIAM M. LAMBERT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tag-Fasteners; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

My invention relates to devices for tagging merchandise and other articles; and it consists in a spring-wire fastener bent into a form that will hold the tag fixed in the desired position and connect the tag to the article to be marked. This tag-fastener is also extremely simple in construction and easily made.

The accompanying drawings illustrate the invention.

Figure 1 is afront view of the fastener in operative position, and Fig. 2 a side View with the entering point in normal position. Fig. 3 is aside view of the fastener in operative position.

The different parts of the invention are referred to by letters, similar letters denoting corresponding parts in the different views.

In the drawings, the letter A indicates the body-loop of the fastener, one of its sides a terminating in an entering point I) to adapt it to pass through cloth and similar fabrics to be marked, and its other side a being formed into an open hook 0,011 which is hung a tag or ticket (1. The hook c is formed by bending the lower part of the side a of the body-loop sharply backward and then curving it round into a circular form, its point e passing and being slightly separated from the side a. The side a of the body-loop is straight and normally stands nearly parallel to the side a. Its point is sharpened and reaches to the bottom of the hook c.

To look the fastener the side a is brought around to the front, where, on being released, it will spring into the open hook o and rest against the top of the tag cl.

It is important to merchants whose goods are frequently on high shelves that the pricetag should hang with its inscription in plain View. IVith this fastener the tag is always held facing squarely to the front, and much trouble and annoyance are thereby avoided.

Having now described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is v 1. A spring-wire tag-fastener formed of a body-loop having one side bent into an open hook and the other side straight, sharpened at its point and extended to the bottom of said hook, in combination with a tag having above its eye an extension wherewith it is held rigid by the pressure upon it of the said straight side, substantially as herein set forth.

2. A spring-wire tag-fastener formed with a body-loop A, having one side a bent into an open hook O, and the other side a straight, sharpened at its point I), and extended to the bottom of the saidhook O and engaging with the same when in operative position, whereby the tag (I is held rigidly in position.
