UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
\VILLIAM P. STOTT, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
SOAP AND BRUSH HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 416,967, dat d December 10, 1889- Application filed June 13, 1889. Serial No. 314,100. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM l. S'ro'rr, of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and Improved Soap and Brush Holder, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of the invention is to provide a new and improved soap and brush holder, which is -very simple in construction and can be quickly and securely attached to or removed from the pail containing the water. The invention also consists in certain parts and details and combinations of the same, as will be fully described hereinafter, and then pointed out in the claims.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a partof this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the figures.
Figure 1 is a perspective View of the improvement as applied, and Fig. 2 is a transverse section of the same.
The improved brush and soap holder A is provided with two sides B and 0, connected with each other near their upper ends by a bottom D, slightly inclined and made into the shape of a segment, so as to conform to the shape of the pail on which the holder is to be used. The back piece E is secured on the outer upper edge of the bottom D, and
is also connected with the outer projecting ends of the sides B and C, as is plainly shown in the drawings. Each of the sides B and O is provided near its front end with a slot- F, extending from the bottom upward to the under side of the bottom D. Each slot F is of a width equal to the thickness of the sides of the pail G, so that the holder A can be quickly attached to the pail G by passing the slots F over the upper edge of the pail G, as shown in Fig. 1. To the inner edge of the bottom D, near the side'C, is secured a plate ll, serving to hold the cake of soap I in place on the inclined bottom D. On the latter is also secured a lug J, placed near to and parallel with the side B, and serving to hold the brush K in place. The brush K \Vhen the holder is attached to the pail, as above described, and illustrated in Fig. 1, the bottom I) is inclined inward, so that any water dripping from the brush K or the soap I runs into the pail. As the bottom D is made in the shape of a segment, the inner edge corresponds with the shape of the pail, and the holder projects a very short distance into the pail, thus leaving room to conveniently dip the brush into the water.
Havin thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A soap and brush holder comprising slotted sides adapted to be set on a pail, a segmental inclined bottom connecting the said sides with each other near their upper ends, and a plate secured to inner edge of the said bottom to hold the soap in place, the said plate being of less length than the bottom, substantially as shown and described.
2. A soap and brush holder comprising slotted sides adapted to be set onto a pail, a segmental inclined bottom connecting the said sides with each other near their upper ends, and a lug erected on the said bottom near one of the said sides, substantially as shown and described.
3. A soap and brush holdercomprising slotted sides adapted to be set onto a pail, a segmental inclined bottom connecting the said sides with each other near their upper ends, a plate secured to the inner edge of the said bottom to hold the soap in place, and a lug erected on the said bottom near one of the said sides, substantiallv as shown and described.
4. A soap and brush holder comprising slotted sides adapted to be set onto a pail, a segmental inclined bottom connecting the said sides with each other near their upper ends, a plate secured to inner edge of the said bottom to hold the soap in place, 2. lug erected on the said bottom near one of the said sides, and a curved back held on the outer end of the said bottom and connecting the projecting outer ends of the said sides with each other, substantially as shown and described.
