HAN D-TRUCK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 414,425, dated November 5, 1889.
Serial No. 308,327. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that we, J OSEPH P. MENARD and EDWARD T. WEYMAN, both of Missoula, in the county of Missoula and Territory of Montana, have invented a new and Improved Plow-Truck, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to a truck that is applicable for use in the moving of plow-bottoms from place to place; and to the end named the invention consists in the construction and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar figures and letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both views.
Figure 1 is a sectional view on line 50 m of Fig. 2 of our improved plow-truck, represent ing the same as it appears when supporting a plow; and Fig. 2 is a plan view of the truck,
" the plow-bottom being removed.
In the drawings,10 represents an axle thatis supported by wheels 11. To the axle 10 we connect truck-handles 12 and an upwardly and forwardly extending arm 13, upon the forward end of which there isformed a jaw a, as shown. To the arm 13 we pivotally connect a clamping-jawM, which is connected to a hand-latch 15 by means of a rod 16, the latch being pivotally connected to one of the handles 12. To impart a proper rigidity to the arm 13, we provide braces 17, which extend from the arms to the handles 12.
In operation the latch 15 is thrown forward to the position in which it is shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1, and the truck is tilted, so that the jaws a and 14c may be passed about the standard of the plow-bottom that is to be moved, after which the latch is returned to the position in which it is shown in full lines in Fig. 1, and as the latch is so moved the Having thus described our invention, we
claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. The combination, with a truck, of a forwardly-proj ectin g arm secured thereto, a horizontal clamp at the outer end of the said arm, a rod for operating the clamp, anda lever pivoted to the rod and truck and lying alongside of one of its handles, substantially as set forth.
2. The combination, with a truck, of an up Wardly and forwardly projecting arm terminating at its upper end in a fixed jaw a, an angle-jaw 14, pivoted at itsangle to the said arm at the inner end of the fixed j aw, a lever pivoted to the truck and lying upon one of its handles, and a rod connected to said lever and the outward-extending arm of the an gle-lever, substantially as set forth.
3. The combination, with the truck proper, of an arm formed with a fixed jaw, a clamp ing-jaw pivotally connected with the arm, the two jaws being formed with lips I), a rod connected to the clamping-jaw, a hand-latch to which the rodextends, and a spring arranged in connection with the hand-latch, substantially as described.
