J. OOHN.
NEGKTIE BOX.
Patented Oct. 8, 1889.
. WIT 8858:
ATTORNEYS.
(No Model.)
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE JOSEPH, COHN, OF. NEW YORK, N. Y.
N ECK'TlE-BOX.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 412,470, dated October 8, 1889.
I Application filed April 17, 1889. Serial No. 307,576- (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH Conn, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Necktie-Box, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to a-box for inclosin g and exhibitingneokties; andthe invention consists, principally, in combining with the main body of the box, which is adapted for holding several neckties, a tray, also adapted for holding neckties, connected to the main body of the box by connecting stays or links pivoted to the tray and main box, so that the tray may be closed into the main box or held above it in nearly vertical position to exhibit the ties in both compartments.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification,
E. In this tray is secured the frame F for holding a series of neckties G. The ends of the links E are secured to the sides of the body A by the eyelets a a and to the sides of the tray D by the eyelets d d, and the linksor stays are so located that the tray may be lowered into the box A, as shown in Fig. 2, to cover the neckties C therein, or elevated to the position shown in Fig. 1 to exhibit all of the neckties. The tray is held in the nearly upright position by the links E, the lower end of the tray resting in the main box A. By this. construction the box as a whole is adapted to contain the neckties for shipment, &c., a common cover being put upon the box A, and it is also adapted for exhibiting in a very attractive manner a large variety of colors and patterns without removing the ties from the box.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- Th e herein-described necktie-exhibitor, consisting in the outer or main box A, having a series of necktie-supports between its ends, the inner shallower box also having a series of necktie-supports, and opposite links E between the sides of the two boxes and pivoted at their forward ends, as at a ,'to the sides of the box A toward its outer end, and pivoted at their inner ends, as at d, to the inner ends of the sides of the inner box D, whereby, when the inner box is raised and swung forward until its inner or lower end passes the pivots a and the necktie-supports, its bottom will rest against the forward end of the outer box, substantially as shown and described.
