SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 403,332, dated May I4, 1889.

Be it known that I, MAR HA DENISE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Burlington, in the county of Des Moines and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clothes-Line Attachments; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.

The present invention has for its object to provide an attachment to clothes-lines whereby the hanging of small articlessuch as collars, cuffs, handkerchiefs, hose, and the likeis rendered more convenient and expeditious; and the invention consists in a strip of cloth or other like material of suitable length and width and provided with a series of hooks for attaching the articles thereto and means for securing said strip to the clothes-line, as will hereinafter be described.

In the accompanying drawing, which represents a perspective view of my invention, showing it applied to a clothes-line, A designates the line, of the usual construction, and B the strip of cloth or other material and having fastened thereto a number'of hooks, a, of any preferred or well known construction. The strip B may be of any desirable length and any number of hooks may be used, which are placed at a convenient distance apart and fastened to the strip by any well known means.

Any preferred means may be employed for securing the strip B to the clothes-line; but that shown I consider the most simple and practical, viz: bands I) of cloth sewed or otherwise secured to the strip at suitable distances apart and of such length as to pass over the line, as shown, and held thereon by the ordinary clothes-pin, 0.

After the articles are washed, the strip can be taken in the lap and supplied with said articles by engaging them with the hooks throughout the length of the strip and afterward fastening the strip to the clothes-line by the ordinary clothes-pin, which can be done very quickly. Especially is this an advantage when the weather is cold, as it avoids the necessity of remaining out of doors any great length of time.

Having now fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

An attachment to clothes-lines, consisting of a strip of flexible material provided with hooks which are connected thereto at suitable distances apart throughout the lengthof said strip, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
