Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
DAVID K. STONE, OF BIJOOMINGDAIJE, MICHIGAN, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO ALBERT TAYLOR, OF SAME PLACE.
'THlLL COUPLlNG.
SJPECIFIGATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 400,878, dated April 2, 1889.
Application filed June 20, 1888. Serial No. 277,666. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DAVID K. S ONE, of Bloomingdale, Van Buren county, in the State of Michigan, have invented an Improvement in Thill-Oouplings, of which the following is a specification.
The invention will be first described, and then pointed out in the claim.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a plan View; Fig. 2, a side elevation; Fig. 3, a longitudinal vertical section, and Fig. 4 a vertical cross-section.
In the drawings, A represents the front axle of a vehicle, B the yoke secured to cross-bars O by nuts 13, and O the head in which the thill is pivoted. The rubber D is concaved at d, and fits in the rabbet c of the head. On the thill end is formed an eye, E, which fits on a pivot, F, made fast at one end to the head and having the other end free. side of the head 0' is a hinged latch, G, which has a hole, g, through which works the free end of the pivot F.
On one H is a spring which passes through the latch-hole g, while the latch is locked by means of the corresponding shoulders, g 71 on the latch and spring.
Having thus described all that is necessary to a full understanding of my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to protect by Letters Patent, is
A thill-coupling consisting of the eye E on the thill, the head O, carrying the fixed pivot F in its rabbet c, a hinged side latch, G, having pivot-hole g and shoulders g a spring, H, having shoulders k and the cross-barred yoke B O, as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
DAVID K. STONE.
