VETERINARY DRENGHER.
No. 400,298. Patented'Mar. 26, 1889.
UNITED STATES PATENT OEEIcE.
CHARLES C. OARRASCO, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
VETERINARY DRENCHER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 400,298, dated March 26, 1889.
Application filed August 25, 1888. Serial No. 283,797. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLEs C. CARRASOO, of Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Device for Administering Medicines and Liquids to Horses and other Dumb Animals, of which the following, taken in connection with he accompanying drawings, is a specification.
My invention relates to the manner of administering medicines and liquids to horses and other dumb animals; and it consists of a long elastic rubber nipple in the form of a cylinder-with rounded edges and one end enlarged, and having a circular cavity through its entire length and an enlargement of said cavity at the larger end for receiving the neck of a bottle. I
The object of my invention is to provide a simple, cheap, and durable'rubber nipple for administering medicines and liquids to horses and other dumb animals.
With these ends in view my invention consists of a device as shown in the accompany ing drawings, and hereinafter described.
Figure 1 shows my newly-invented horsemedicine nipple, in perspective, applied to a common bottle. Fig. 2 shows the same, in perspective, unapplied, with cavity or opening E. Fig. 3 shows a longitudinal central section of the same with cavity E E and E. Fig. 4 shows a plan view of the top of same, showing cavity E. Fig. 5 shows a plan view of the bottom of same, D, showing the cavity E and E.
Corresponding letters in the several figures of the drawings designate like parts.
Referring to the drawings, A is abottle, and B its neck.
O is my newly-invented horse-medicine nipple, having an opening or cavity, E.
E represents the enlarged opening or cavity for receiving the neck of bottle, and D the lower elastic edge.
My newly-invented horse-medicine nipple, as shown and described, is elastic, is adjustable to any ordinary large bottle, is quickly and easily adjusted, and quickly and easily removed and cleaned. It does not injure the mouth, is not injured or destroyed by chewing or champing, but, being elastic, deposits the medicine in small quantities while being champed, rendering it more easy to swallow the same, and it permits of no waste of medicine. The nipple being long, when properly inserted in the side of the animals mouth, it deposits Whatever is being administered back of the tongue, thereby avoiding much unpleasant taste, and, being adjustable to any ordinary large transparent glass bottle, the operator can readily see when the entire contents of the bottle have been administered. By means of this device medicine may be administered by one person unaided.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent,
An elastic rubber nipple for administering medicines and liquids to horses and other dumb animals, consisting of a cylinder with rounded edges and an enlarged end, and having a circular opening or cavity, E E, through its en tire length, said opening being enlarged at one end, E, to receive the neck of abottle, all'as shown and described in the accompanying drawings and specification.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification, in the presence of two subscribing witnesses, on this 16th day of August,
CHARLES C. CARRASCO. lVitnesses JOHN H. WIGMOEE, M. B. WHITING.
