SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 399,999, dated March 19, 1889.
Application filed January 19, 1889- Serial No. 296,881. (No specimens.)
To all whom it away concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS lllANAHAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Compositions for Treating Paper and other Fabrics, of which the following is a specification.
The object of this invention is a composition which is intended particularly to render paper moth-proof, but which may be used with advantage for treatingother fabrics, such as muslin or cloth.
I11 carrying out my invention I take naphtl1alinesuch as known in the trade as sublimed naphthaline and melt the same, by preference,in awater-bath to the consistency of a watery liquid. To one gallon of this melted naphthaline I add about one ounce of glycerine and about one-half ounce of essence of mirbane. After the composition has been prepared, and while the same is kept hot enough tovretain it in a liquid condition, the paper or other fabric is immersed therein for a sufficiently long time to permit the \Vhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
