Be it known that LVILLIAM HENRY BROWN, cotton-spinner, of 64 Chorley Street, Bolton, in the county of Lancaster, England, have inm vented new and useful Improvements in a Musical Pneumatic Toy, (for which I have obtained a patent in Great Britain, No. 12,821,

September 5, 18%,) of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to that type of musical tolvs comprisin g reeds and disks mounted on cords, which, being twisted, as is well known, communicate revolving motions to th e disks alternately in opposite directions h v alternatelyv elongating and shortening the strin that are twisted together.

The musical portion A of this toy is comout any perceptible stoppage, and so on as posed of several parts, and consists of the plain disk B, as in Fig. t3, oli' cardboard, to which is secured, hiv glue, gum, or other equivalent means, the center pieces, C. The circular center pieces, are consi ructed, as in Fig. il, with the circular openingsI l), to torni passages between thc outside disks, if and E, for conveying wind l'rom the reeds when the toy is revolving. The card-hoard disk .E is pro vided with the openings or passages G l'or conveying wind to the reeds ll, the latter heilig mounted on the circular metallic plate I, as in Fig. 'lhe reed-plate l is attached to the card-hoard disk E in any convenient manner, and around the periphery ot' the reed-plate is l arranged the ring J', that serves to support and rigidly connect the disk E to the center pieces, C, and at the same time hohl the said disk E at such distances from the center pieces as to provide the required intervening space for the reed-plate. The reeds H are placed opposite the openings or passages G in the disk E, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3. Any convenient number of reeds can he mounted on the metallic plate I, the openings or pas- 6o sages D and G being provided to suit. The whole of the parts 'forming the musical tolv are put together as in Figs. l and 2, and are secured hy means of glue, gum, or other equivalents. 6D
