Description

(No Model.)
U. BOGENSUHUTZ, Jr.
MOLDERS FLASK.
No. 398,219. Patented Feb. 19, 1889.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES BOGENSCHUTZ, JR.
, OF COVINGTON, KENTUCKY.
MOLDERS FLASK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 398,219, dated February 19, 1889.
Application filed November 5, 1888. Serial No. 289,956. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Jr., a citizen of the United States, residing at Covington, county of Kenton, State of Kentucky, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Molders Flasks, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide a support and fastening for the cross-bars in a molders flask, so as to hold them securely in position and permit of their being readily removed for the purpose of substituting new ones or changing them from one position to another.
Referring to the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the molders flask embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of one of the bar-holders detached, and Fig. 3 is a perspective view of one of the holder-caps detached.
A represents the nowehand l the cope, of a molders flask.
C C are the cross-bars which hold the sand in place.
D D represent sockets or holders adapted 1 to receive the ends of the cross-bars C C.
E is a cap adapted to take over the socket or holder D, and is locked to the same by means of a lug, 6, taking into a recess, (1, in theholder. Several of these recesses are preferably made on each holder to allow of adi justment for different-sized cross-bars.
It is obvious that the lug may be upon the 7 socket or holder and the recesses in the cap, Be itknown that I, CHARLES Bosnnscn'orz,
or any suitable device may be employed for locking the caps to the holders, and that anyshaped holder may be used. The socket or hold er D is preferably attached to the frame of the flask by means of screws or rivets, but it may be made a part of the flask itself, if desired.
.It will be observed that holders made substantially as shown will support the bars firmly in position, prevent them from warping, and if the operator inserts a bar incorrectly will permit of its being readily corrected by removing the bar and inserting a new one, or by changing it end for end, Without disturbing the flask or its contents. None of these advantages are had where the bars are mounted in the flask, as formerly.
I claim as my invention of holders, a cross-bar or cross-bars supported thereby, and caps provided with locking devices, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
2. The combination of the flask, holders D D, having recesses cl cl, cross-bars O O, supported thereby, and caps E E, having lugs e e, substantially as described.
CHARLES BOGENSCHUTZ, JR.
itnesses:
FRANK O. LOVELAND, J AMES N. RAMSEY.
