PHILIP LICHT, J R., OF EAST VILLIAMSBURG, NEW YORK.
ROCKET.
SPECIE*ICATINl forming part. of Letters Patent No. 393,990, dated December 4, 1888.
Application filed August 30, 1888. Serial No. 284,139. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PHILIP LICHT, Jr., a citizen of the United States, residing at East 'illiamsburg, in the county of Queens and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Rockets, of which the following is a speciiication.
This invention relates to an improvementapplicable to rockets, as set fort-h in the following speciiication and claims, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l is a side elevation of a rocket. Fig. 2 is a similar elevation, partly in section. Fig. 3 is an inverted plan view of a rocket. Fig. i is a perspective view of a rocket.
bimilarletters indicate correspondingparts.
In the drawings, the let-ter A indicates a socket havingI extensions B C. The extensions are secured to the rocket F. By having the extension B pass under the outer shell of the rocket, as seen in Fig. 2, the socket is made to sit closely to the rocket, so that as little resistance as possible is created against the rise of the rocket by the pressure of the socket against the air. The extension C is secured to the lower end of the rocket. By bending the extension C into the interior of the rocket, as seen in Fig. l, the extension C obtains a firm grip.
A loop, wire, or cord, D, secured about the rocket, is made to steady the socket. The socket serves for the insertion or holding of a leg or stick, E.
One stick may be used, if desired, or, as shown in the drawings, a series of sticks, E, can be employed.
Vhat I claim as new, and desireffto secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. The combination, with a rocket, of a socket provided with extensions, one of said extensions being secured beneath the outer shell of the rocket, and the other extension being secured at the lower end of the rocket, substantially as described.
2. The combination, with a rocket, of a socket, A, havingI an extension, B, at its upper end and inwardly-bent extension C at its lower end, which extends under the base ot' the rocket, and a loop, I), binding the bent extension to the rocket adjacent to the lower end of the socket, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
