G. G. BAUER & IE. H. FRANKENBERG.
CURTAIN 0R LAMBREQUIN SUPPORT FOR WINDOWS.
No. 892,774. Patented Nov. 13, 1888.
ATTORNEYS.
UNITED STATES PATENT, rrrcs.
CHARLES o. BAUER AND FRANK H. FRANKENBERG, or PUEBLO,
' COLORADO.
CURTAIN OR LAMBREQUIN SUPPCRT FGR WINDOWS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 392,774, dated November .13, 1888.
Application filed April 10, 1588.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, CHARLES C. BAUER and FRANK H. FRANKENBER'G, of Pueblo, in the county of Pueblo and State of Colorado, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Curtain or Lainbrequin Supports for \Vindows,of which the following is a description.
Figure 1 is a front elevation, and Fig. 2 a vertical transverse section, of a window with our invention applied thereto.
The object of our invention is to provide a support for curtains, lambrequins, or other wimlow-hangings which is so connected to the upper sash that when the latter is lowered for the purposes of ventilation the curtain or lambrequin support is moved away from its position in front of the opening to allow a free and unobstructed ventilation; and it consists in providing such support and combining it with the upper sash, whereby the above result is obtained and the curtain or lambrequin is also held in proper position, as hereinafter more fully described.
In the drawings, A A represent the upper and lower sash, which slide in the usual way in the window-frame B, being balanced by cords and weights, which cords pass over pulleys in the boxi'rame. On the inner face of the windowframe, on each side, is pivoted at a the upright metal bars 0 G, which at their upper ends are wider and provided with notches, slots, and journal-bearings b for the curtain-rollers and lainbrequin-poles, and which upper ends rest, when the bars are ver tical, at the top of the window and in the proper and usual position for the curtain and lambrequin supports.
D D are link-bars, of which there are two, one on each side. One end of each of these 40 bars isjointed to the upright bars near the Serial No. 270.183. (No model.)
middle, and the other end is jointed to a staple or hinge-plate on the upper sash. By this construction it will be seen that whenever the upper sash is lowered the thrust of the linkbars D D projects the supporting-bars G C of the curtains downwardly and away from the window, giving a free passage for air.
To keep the curtains from falling out of position in this movement, and also to hold them smoothly in place when the window is closed, an offset, a, is formed on the lower ends of the supporting-bars, and on the ends of the offset is secured the rod E, which rests outside the curtains.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new is- 1. The bars 0 0, having bearings at their upper ends for the curtain or lambrequin rods, combined with links pivoted to the same and adapted to be connected with the upper sash, as and for the purpose described. I
2. The combination, with the window-frame and the upper sash,of supporting-bars pivoted to the sides of the frame and having bearings for the curtain or lainbrequin poles at the top and links connecting these supporting-bars to I the upper sash, as described, for simultaneous automatic action.
3. The bars 0 G, pivoted to the windowframe and having bearings for the curtain or lambrequin poles at the top,and a connectingrod, E, at the bottom, in combination with the window frame and sash and the links connecting the sash to the supportingbars, as set forth.
CHARLES C. BAUER. FRANK H. FEANKENBERG.
