Definitions
- ABSTRACT A shuttering unit facilitating the errection of a poured concrete structure and more particularly the pouring of individual rooms of a building in which the unit is to be reused and includes a ceiling and endwall shutter sections connected to opposed side wall shutter sections and in which slight inward displacement of the side wall shutter sections permits withdrawal of the unit from the room which has been poured; the end wall shutter section including a displacable portion facilitating inward movement of the side-wall forming shutter sections for facilitating withdrawal of the shutter unit from a poured room so that form work and pouring of the rooms and completion of the building can be expedited.
- the invention relates to ,room shuttering unit for concrete and steel reinforced concrete buildings, consisting of a ceiling and end-wall shuttering, and two sidewall shuttering sections, which are movable towards the interior of the room during stripping.
- the two side-wall shuttering sections are linked with the ceiling shuttering in such a manner that they can be moved a few centimetres towards one another, i.e. towards the centre, so that when the concrete walls are formed, the shuttering unit can be detached from the said walls, and then the entire room shuttering, once the ceiling shuttering and two side-wall sections have been displaced slightly can be withdrawn from the finished building.
- the object of the invention is to improve room shuttering of this kind, so that the end 'wall shuttering can be detached from the surface of the concrete in a simple and easy manner, without causing damage to the shuttering skin.
- this problem is solved by providing the end wall shuttering with a section (portion) which can pivot about an axis into the interior of the shuttering unit in such a manner that the said section, after swivelling (displacement), provides room for movement towards the room centre, of the side-wall shuttering sections and the remaining portions of the end wall shuttering sections are still connected to the side-wall shuttering sections.
- the axis of swivel (pivot) of the end wall shuttering portion is preferably arranged horizontally at the level of the upper edge of the section of the end wall shuttering and which can be swivelled into the interior of the shuttering, relative to the other sections, and is displaced to the interior of the shuttering by a few decimetres.
- axis of swivel is On a vertical axis, so that an upper portion of the end wall shutter section swivels about this axis and can be displaced into the interior of the shuttering.
- FIG. 1 shows room shuttering in accordance with the invention, in the front elevation
- FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the same room shuttering from the rear prior to pouring a room
- FIG. 3 is a longitudinal section taken generally on the plane of line 33 of FIG. 2 through this room shuttering and;
- FIG. 4 is a perspective view of, similar to FIG. 2, showing another form of a room shuttering in accordance with the invention.
- the room shuttering shown in the drawings is intended for erection of the concrete walls on the base elements S and a ceiling spanning the said walls.
- Such a room shuttering system comprises horizontal ceiling shuttering 1, two sets of vertical side-wall shuttering sections 2 and 3, and a rear (end) wall 4.
- Each of these shuttering sections 1 to 4 consists of a shuttering sheet a and bracing ribs b (FIG. 3).
- Each of the side-wall shuttering sections 2, 3 is linked or connected with the ends of ceiling shuttering l by a system of levers 7, 8, 9, which are hinged on pivots l0, l1, l2, 13 of the sidewall shuttering or ceiling shuttering, and connected with a hand lever 14, in such a manner that each sidewall shuttering section, by means of turning lever 14 in one direction in the direction of arrow P outwards, is pressed into the shuttering position during which casting of the wall takes place, and by swivelling in opposition, see arrow P, after completion of the wall, can be moved away from it by a few centimetres see, for example, U.S. Letters Pat. to Markewitz et al. No.
- FIG. 1 shows diagonal braces'S and 6 between the centre'area of ceiling shuttering l and the lower parts of side-wall shuttering sections 2 and 3. Instead of these diagonal braces or in addition to them, props (not shown) which can be lowered, may be provided for the ceiling. In the arrangement illustrated in FIG.
- the side-wall shuttering sections 2 and 3 are positioned on jacks 15, 16, by means of which they can be lifted, together with the ceiling shuttering 1, into the shuttering position, and lowered for the purpose of stripping the shutter unit.
- the upper edge of each sidewall shuttering section 2, 3 and the adjoining edges of the ceiling shuttering 1 can be sealed by an angled plastic strip 17.
- wheels 18 are shown, on which the room shuttering unit rolls when being lifted (drawn) out of a poured room.
- Shuttering sections 1 to 4 have a number of holes 19 for accommodating anchoring units, by means of which adjacent room shuttering units can be rigidly connected with one another at set distances apart, corresponding to the thickness of the concrete walls or ceiling to be poured. Room shuttering of this kind is known as such not including the rear wall however, see US. Pat. No. 3,678,693 mentioned above.
- the room shuttering illustrated in the drawings has in addition, a rear wall shuttering section 4.
- the central part 4a of the rear wall 4 can be swivelled (pivoted) about a horizontal axis 20, which is provided on the ceiling shuttering 1 (FIG. 3) at a distance A of several decimetres from the vertical plane of the rear wall 4.
- the rear wall portion 4a during swivelling about axis 20, is removed sufficiently from the vertical plane in which it is normally positioned in the shuttering position (when concrete is poured), that it leaves room for the two other parts 4b and 4c of the rear wall, to be moved towards one another, when the side-wall shuttering sections 2 and 3 are also moved away from the finished vertical concrete walls by turning hand levers 14 from the position P to the position shown at I by arrow P.
- Parts 4b and 4c of the rear wall are rigidly connected with side-wall shuttering sections 2 and 3 respectively by steel plates 21.
- the rear wall can be opened to the extent where persons who have been working inside the room shuttering unit, may leave through the opening, after the room shuttering has been sufficiently withdrawn from the room building to an adequate extent.
- the rear wall of the room shuttering consists of two parts 4d and 4e rigidly connected with side-wall shuttering sections 2 and 3, one part 4f is rigidly linked with ceiling shuttering l, and two parts 4g and 411 are located alternately between pans 4d and 4f and 4e and 4f respectively.
- Part 4g and 4h may be swivelled (pivoted) about vertical axes 22 and 23 respectively.
- One portion 24g and 24h of parts 4g and 411, respectively can be folded towards the interior about horizontal axis 25g or 26, so that it does not impede the swivelling of parts 4g or 411 about axes 22 or 23.
- Parts 4g or 411 can be swivelled about axes 22 and 23 far enough for the rear wall to open adequately to enable persons to pass through this opening when the unit is partially withdrawn from a poured building.
- a room shuttering assembly for pouring rooms in concrete and steel reinforced concrete buildings, consisting of a ceiling shuttering, end-wall shuttering, and two opposed side-wall shuttering sections, connected as a unit, which side-wall shuttering sections are mov able, during stripping, towards each other and the interior of the room, characterised in that the end-wall shuttering has a section which is pivoted about an axis towards said room interior such that the end-wall section, after pivoting permits movement towards each other and the center of the room of the side-wall shuttering sections and the remaining sections of said endwall shuttering which are linked to the sidewall shuttering sections permitting the assembly to be withdrawn from the poured room.
- a room shuttering assembly in accordance with claim 1 characterised in that the pivot axis is horizontal at the level of the upper edge of the section of the end-wall shuttering which can pivot into the interior of the shuttering assembly, and relative to the other sections of the end-wall shuttering, said axis being located toward the interior of the shuttering assemblyv 3.
