To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that LEDWIN N. DODGE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Claremont, in the county of Dodge and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cuff-Holders, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 represents a perspective view of my device applied to a cuff and shirt-sleeve; Fig. 2, a detached perspective view of the holder and adjuster; Fig. 3, a detail sectional view taken through the adjustable button.

This invention has relation to certain new and useful improvements upon that class of devices employed to adjustably and removably attach mens cuffs to the stay-bands of shirtsleeves, whereby the cuffs may be adjusted to any position with respect to the coat-sleeves the wearer may desire and be securely held in such adjusted position, as will be more fully hereinafter specified.

This invention has for its objects to provide a simple and inexpensive yet practical device of this character; and it consists in certain novel features of construction, which will fully herein appear and be particularly pointed out in the claims appended.

Referring to the drawings by letters, A designates a metallic bar provided at its ends with means for detachably attaching it to a stay-band of a shirt-sleeve, in this instance small clips at a and set-screws a a being employed for this purpose, these set-screws being tapped into the upper arms of the clips and adapted to clamp the stay-band between their ends and the lower arms of the clips, as clearly shown in the drawings. I prefer this method of attaching the bar A to the shirtsleeve; but it is evident that I may employ other devices without departing from my invention.

Embracing the bar A and adapted to slide freely back and forth upon it is aloop, Z), which has formed integral with it, upon its upper side, a tubular extension or shank, b, this shank being preferably formed with an annular flange, 7), around its upper edge, which serves to prevent the cuff from loosening the button. Tapped into the shank b and loop I) is the threaded stem of a button, 0. This stem passes entirely through the said shank and loop and bears against the upper face of the bar A, serving to hold the said loop at any desired position on the bar. To apply the device the bar A is first attached to the stayband of the sleeve, as shown-in Fig. 1. The shank b is then passed through the button-holes of the cuff and the button screwed into the shank until it bears against the bar A. By loosening the button a little the cuff may be adjusted to any position upon the bar A, and then so cured in such adjusted position by tightening up the screw again.

Itwill be observed that an essential feature of this device is the button c,which serves the double purpose of holding the cuff upon the of its adjusted positions. The device is eX- mum cost-two great desiderata with devices of this character.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. The combination, with a bar provided with clips a a at its ends and set-screws a a tapped into the upper arm of these clips, of an adjustable button adapted to slide upon the said bar, substantially as herein set forth.

2. The combination, with a bar provided with clips having set-screws for attaching it to a shirt-sleeve, of a loop loosely embracing the said bar, this loop being provided with a hollow vertical shank, this shank having formed integral with it at its outer end an annular flange, b, and a button provided with a screwthreaded stem, the saidstem being tapped into the said shank and adapted to bear upon the upper surface of the said bar, substantially as herein set forth.
