1,668,833 5/l928 Thayer 70/459 UX 3 Claims, 2 Drawing Figures KEY RING This invention relates to key holding devices and more particularly to key rings.
It is therefore the principal object of this invention to provide a key ring which is small, compact and will have rotatably foldable wire clip means for retaining a plurality of keys.
Another object of this invention is to provide a key ring which will be comfortable in ones pocket or purse and U-shaped wire clip means for holding the keys will be rotatably carried within cylinder means of the device.
A further object of this invention is to provide a key ring which will have two wire clips for receiving two sets of keys so that they may be readily found easily in the dark.
A still further object of this invention is to provide a key ring upon which one may put office or automobile keys on one wire clip and house keys on the other wire clip and the cylinder will be adaptable for including additional wire clips and will also be adaptable to be retained on a persons belt.
Other objects are to provide a key ring which is simple in design, inexpensive to manufacture, rugged in construction, easy to use and efficient in operation.
These and other objects will be readily evident upon a study of the following specification and the accompanying drawing, wherein:
FIG. 1 is a plan view of the present invention shown partly broken away with a key shown in phantom lines thereon.
FIG. 2 is an enlarged side view of FIG. 1 showing the rotation of the loops in phantom lines.
According to this invention, a key ring is shown to consist of a cylinder 11 of suitable material having a circular recess 12 at each end. The recessed openings 12 of cylinder 11 provide a means for rotatably receiving the ends 13 of U-shaped configurated wire 14 which will each hold a plurality of keys 14a. A thumbscrew 15 is threadably received, and each end of cylinder 11 within the internally threaded bore 16. The heads 17 of thumbscrew 15 are knurled for a non-slip grip by the fingers of the user and the heads 17 provide retainment means for the ends 13 within the recessed openings 12.
In use, as will be more readily seen in FIG. 2 of the drawing, the wirer clips 14 holding the keys 14a, are rotatable toward or away from each other and keys 14a may be placed on or taken off of clip 14 by removing one of the thumbscrews 15, the thumbscrew 15 being then returned within its opening or bore 16 of cylinder 11.
What I claim is:
1. A key ring, comprising a cylinder, 21 pair of U- shaped wire clips removeably received on said cylinder and a pair of thumbscrews received by said cylinder providing positive retainment means for said wire clips receiving keys.
2. The combination according to claim 1, wherein each end of said cylinder of said device receives rotatably, the ends of said wire clips carrying said keys, the clips being rotatable towards and away from each other.
3. The combination according to claim 2, wherein the knurled heads of said thumbscrew means provide retainment means for said ends of said clips within said cylinder and the ends of said clips are inwardly disposed and springingly engage the recessed openings of said cylinder.

Claims (3)

1. A key ring, comprising a cylinder, a pair of U-shaped wire clips removeably received on said cylinder and a pair of thumbscrews received by said cylinder providing positive retainment means for said wire clips receiving keys.
