HAIR-DRESSING DEVICE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 389,803, dated September 18, 1888.
Application filed April 13, 1888. Serial No. 270.543. (No model.)
.To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALEXANDRE F. Gonn- FROY, of the city of St. Louis, in the State of Missouri, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Hair-Dressing Devices,
Referring to the drawings, 1 represents a' case or box, forming a chamber, 2. This case or box has a flexible front portion, 3, which has an opening, 4, to fit thehead, as shownin Figs. I, II, and IV. The lower part of this flexible piece is extended to form an imperferate drip-apron, 5.
When the device is used for 'shampooing, for instance, the part 1 of the case is removed from the part 3, and the water and suds pass down the apron5 and arediseharged, as shown in Fig. II, at the lower end of the apron. Then, when the device is to be used for drying the hair, the part 1 of the case is applied and isconnected by means of a pipe, 6, to any suitable form of heater, 7. The heat is discharged into the chamber 2, escapingv through a pipe or flue, 8, on topof the case, and drying the hair as it passes through the chamber.

' The pipe 6 of the furnace 7 may be provided with branches 20, connecting the pipe to the sides and bottom'of the part 1 of the case, for Y the purpose of discharging heat at different points, and these branches may be provided with valves 21, to regulate the quantity of heat entering the chamber 2.
I claim as my invention- 1. In a hair-dressing apparatus, the eombi-- nation of a case having a flexible portion to fit the head, and a furnace for discharging heat into the case, substantially as set forth.
2. In a hair-dressing apparatus, the combination of a case having a flexible portion to fit the head, and a furnace provided witha pipe, and branches having valves for communicating with the case and discharging heat into the case, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
3. In a hair-dressing apparatus, the case having a flexible portion to fit the head, and an il'nperforate apron, 5, wherefrom the water and suds escape at its rear edge, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
4. In a hair-dresser, the case having a flexible portion, 3,-to fit the head, and a removable portion, 1, the portion 3 having an apron, 5, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
