SHEET PATENTEDJUN l 7 I975 FIG. 1.
1 DISPLAY STANDARD The present invention relates generally to a display standard, and, more particularly, to such a standard which is easily mounted and taken down and provides for ready change of the items, information or the like being displayed.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the display standard of this invention shown mounted and in use.
FIG. 2 is an enlarged, side elevational, partially fragmentary view of the standard of FIG. 1.
FIG. 3 is an elevational, partially fragmentary view of the display standard.
FIG. 4 is a sectional, elevational view ofa connecting element taken along the line 4--4 of FIG. 3.
FIG. 5 is a perspective, partially fragmentary view of a mounting foot of the standard.
FIG. 6 is a perspective view of an alternate mounting mode.
DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT With reference now particularly to FIG. 1 of the drawing, the display standard of this invention enumerated generally as 10 is shown supporting a generally rectangular sheetlike item 11 for display in a vertically upright position. Although the invention may be advantageously employed for supportive display of items of various geometries, for reasons to be given later it has particular utility with an item of sheetlike construction folded across itself with an opening arranged along the fold line. That is, as will be described, the standard includes parts which pass through the opening in the item and has other parts which support the item along the fold line.
Turning now also to FIGS. 2 and 3, the standard 10 is seen to include a first or base part 12 and a second part 13, which parts are removably interrelated via a connector 14. The base part includes an elongated rodlike member 15 formed about its midpoint into an isosceles triangle, with the end portions of each of the triangle legs being further formed outwardly of the major leg straight line portion as at 16 and 17. A U-shaped mounting foot or clip 18 is secured to the lower surface of each end portion 16 and 17, with the mouths or openings of the U-shaped feet facing each other.
A first rodlike element 19 of the base part 12 has one end portion formed back along itself in the shape of a hook 20. The two parts of the hook 20 are secured to the center point or apex of the triangle of the base part 12 such that the hook extends downwardly below the apex and the main part of the element 19 extends outwardly therefrom substantially normally to a line inter connecting the end portions 16 and 17. The hook and major extent of the element 19 lie in the same plane with the triangularly formed member l5.
The standard second part 13 includes a second rodlike element 21 which has one end formed back along the element body in a hook 22. A cross-brace 23 which may also be constructed of a rodlike material, extends transversely of the element 21 and is secured to both portions of the hook 22.
As best shown in FIG. 4, the free ends of the rodlike elements 19 and 21 are removably secured together by means of a hollow tube connector 14, the open ends of which are flared to assist receipt of the elements therein.
Illustrative of one manner of mounting, as shown in FIG. 1, a roll 24 of wrapping paper, plastic bagging material or the like is carried by a pair of tubular metal supports 25 and 26 interconnected by a similar tubular metal member 27. The lower ends of the supports 25 and 26 can be formed as at 28 for securement to the bottom of a fruit or produce bin 29 via threaded means 30. The upper ends 31 are formed to extend generally horizontally and are of such dimensions as to receive the standard clips 18 thereon.
For an alternate form of mounting, reference is now made to FIG. 6. As shown there, a pair of stanchions 32 and 33 have one end affixed to a vertical wall 34 and extend generally horizontally for supporting, say, a roll 35. The clips 18 of the standard are removably secured to the stanchions as shown.
I claim:
1. A standard for displaying a sheetlike item having an opening therein, comprising:
an elongated member shaped about substantially its midpoint into a triangle;
a U-shaped mounting foot attached to each member end portion with the open end of said feet facing each other, said feet being adapted for receipt onto spaced mounting means;
a first rodlike element having one end portion bent back along itself, said element bent portion being affixed to the elongated member such that the remainder of the element extends in a direction away from the member feet and substantially normal to a straight line interconnecting said feet;
a second rodlike element having an end portion formed back along itself into a loop;
a cross-brace affixed to the loop on said second rodlike element and arranged normally with respect to said second rodlike element and a portion of said loop extending beyond said cross-brace;
a hollow tube being received on the end portions of said first and second rodlike elements removably interconnecting them together;
said sheetlike item to be displayed having its opening being received on the loop of said second rodlike element and otherwise supported for generally vertical hanging by the cross-brace.

Claims (1)

1. A standard for displaying a sheetlike item having an opening therein, comprising: an elongated member shaped about substantially its midpoint into a triangle; a U-shaped mounting foot attached to each member end portion with the open end of said feet facing each other, said feet being adapted for receipt onto spaced mounting means; a first rodlike element having one end portion bent back along itself, said element bent portion being affixed to the elongated member such that the remainder of the element extends in a direction away from the member feet and substantially normal to a straight line interconnecting said feet; a second rodlike element having an end portion formed back along itself into a loop; a cross-brace affixed to the loop on said second rodlike element and arranged normally with respect to said second rodlike element and a portion of said loop extending beyond said crossbrace; a hollow tube being received on the end portions of said first and second rodlike elements removably interconnecting them together; said sheetlike item to be displayed having its opening being received on the loop of said second rodlike element and otherwise supported for generally vertical hanging by the cross-brace.
