Definitions
- the door extracting machine of a coke discharge plant comprises a gas trap which mounts movable folds adapted to be lowered for coke discharge from the oven to form a bell mouth which together with the car body makes up an enclosed space.
- the body of the coke carrying car is shaped as, a confined receptacle with a coke receiving hole, whereas the top of the car incorporates horizontal platforms.
- the plant and car according to the invention make it possible to discharge coke from the oven with a minimum emission of smoke, soot and coke dust into the atmosphere.
- the present invention relates to the equipment employed in the coaltar chemical industry and particularly to the plants for discharging coke from ahorizontalflue coke oven.
- the gas trap is connected through gas ducts to gas exhausting and dedusting facilites.
- This gas trap is so installed in the known plant that it only partially encloses the flow of coke brought into the car which affects the operating efficiency of this device, since a considerable amount of smokegand dust still escapes in to the atmosphere, and, besidesa large amount of ambient air is a drawn into the car'through a gap between the gas trap and the car due to a vacuum created therein, this air when coming into contact with the glowing coke assisting in igniting the latter to. generate more smoke, soot and dust. This in turn makes necessary more powerful gas exhausting and disposal facilities.
- the object of the present invention is to eliminate the above disadvantages.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide such a plant for coke discharge from a horizontal-flue coke oven, which could be capable of coke discharge with an insignificant emission of smoke, soot and dross into the atmosphere.
- One more object of the present invention is to provide such a plant for coke discharge from a horizontalflue coke oven which would be capable of coke discharge with a minimum coke burning loss.
- the gas trap mounts folds which are adapted for raising and lowering to form, when lowered during coke discharge from the oven, a bell mouth with its wider portion facing the car and forming a confined space in combination with the car.
- coke Due to the fact that coke is discharged from the coke oveninto a coke carrying car inside the enclosed space, emission of smoke, soot and dross in to the atmosphere and also coke burning losses are eliminated. It is expedient that coke be discharged into a car whose body is in fact an enclosed receptacle with a coke receiving hole provided in the top of the car and, having a cross sectional area larger than that of the flow of coke charged into the car, while the top of the car incorporates horizontal platforms arranged along the direction of motion of the car during its travel.
- Such an embodiment of the car body as an enclosed receptacle having horizontal platforms on its top provides for a reliably enclosed space in the course of coke discharge from the oven into a coke carrying car while the car is being slightly moved on rail track.
- FIG. 1 schematically illustrates a plant for coke discharge from a horizontal-flue coke oven into a coke carrying car, according to the present invention
- FIG. 2 is a view taken along the line IIII in FIG. 1.
- the major component of the plant for coke discharge from a horizontal-flue coke oven is a door extracting machine which, for better understanding of the present invention, will be further divided into two parts, one of them being referred to as a coke guiding part 1 (FIG. 1) and the other, as a door extrecting part 2 (FIG. 1).
- Both parts of the door removing machine are given freedom of a cooperative movement on rail tracks laid along the front of coke ovens.
- the coke guiding part 1 of the door extracting machine is designed to convey glowing coke from the horizontal-flue coke oven 3 into the body of a car 4 for further carrying of this coke. This operation is performed by means of a coke guiding box 5 which is an element of said coke guiding part 1 of the door extracting machine.
- a gas trap 6 Installed on the metal structure of the coke guiding part 1 above the box 5 is a gas trap 6 which is adapted to prevent emission of smoke, soot and coke dust in to the atmosphere.
- the housing 6 is fixed in such a man ner that it has a depending skirt portion on both sides thereof which hangs over the body of the coke carrying car with a clearance formed between the edges of the housing and those of the side of the car body.
- the gas trap 6 mounts movable folds 7 in the form of pivotable plates, given freedom of raising and lowering to form, when lowered during coke discharge from the oven, a bell mouth facing with its wider portion the car and forming a confined space together with the body of the car 4. Due to the fact that coke is discharged from the coke oven into the car 4 inside an enclosed space emission of smoke, soot and coke dust into the atmosphere, as well as coke burning lossses are practically eliminated.
- the folds 7 may be installed either for possible vertical displacement within slots or pivotally attached to the gas trap 6. Raising and lowering of the folds 7 are effected by an electromechanical or hydraulic drive (not shown).
- the gas trap 6 is connected through a gas duct 8 (FIG. 1) to a gas dedusting cyclone 9 (FIG. I) or a battery of such cyclones.
- the plant for coke discharge from a horizontal-flue coke oven makes it possible to discharge coke into standard-type cars without any emission of smoke, soot and coke dust into the atmosphere.
- a gap may develop between the walls of the car body and the bell mouth formed by the folds installed on the gas trap and through this gap the atmospheric air may find its way into the plant to cause loss of coke by burning, accompanied by an intense emission of smoke, soot and coke dust into the atmosphere.
- the body of the car 4 is constructed so as to provide a confined receptacle with a coke receiving hole 13 made in the top of the car 4 and having a cross-sectional area larger than that of the flow of coke delivered into the car 4 and, besides, the top of the car 4 incorporates horizontal platforms 14 arranged along the direction of the car travel.
- the herein-disclosed embodiment of the body of the car 4 provides for a reliably confined space in the course of coke discharge from the coke oven 3 into the coke carrying car 4 with a certain displacement of the car 3 on the rail track, this being achieved because no clearance is permitted between the bell mouth formed by the folds 7 installed on the gas trap 6, and the walls of the body of the car 4 which adjoin, according to the invention, the horizontal platforms 14 when the car 4 is being displaced on the rail track.
- the body of the coke carying car 4 is installed on a carriage 15 which is moved on the rail track by means of an electric locomotive 16.
- the door extracting machine consisting of the coke guiding part 1 and the door extracting part 2, is positioned at the horizontal-flue coke oven 3 from which the door has been extracted before hand.
- the coke guiding box 5 which is a component of the coke guiding part 1, is displaced until it comes into contact with the oven 3.
- the coke carrying car 4 is positioned below the gas trap 6 so that the flow of glowing coke transferred by the coke guiding box 5 is aligned with the coke receiving hole 13 of the car 4. It should be understood that when the coke carrying car 4 is being moved on the rail track, the folds 7 of the gas trap are in the raised position to permit unobstructed travel of the car 4 comprising the body, the carriage 15 and the electric locomotive 16, under the gas trap 6.
- the drive is engaged to lower the movable folds 7 which, when lowered, form together the bell mouth facing with its wider portion the car 4, thus making up a confined space together with the car 4.
- the car 4 is conveniently used with a body made in the form of a confined receptacle with the coke receiving hole 13 in the top of the car 4, said hole having of a cross-sectional area larger than that of the flow of coke delivered into the car.
- the horizontal platforms 14 arranged in the top of the car 4 along the direction of its travel, provide for the required sealing off when the car is being displaced, thus preventing the ambient air from being drawn into the inner space of the gas trap 6.
- the exhauster Simultaneously with the lowering of the folds 7 the exhauster is engaged into operation. Coke discharge gases are drawn through the duct 8, then dedusted in the cyclone 9 and after passing through the exhauster 11 are released into the atmosphere through the pipe connection 12. 10-15 seconds after the coke discharge from the oven is over, the folds are operated for raising while the exhauster 11 is disengaged.
- All mechanisms are operated and controlled automatically by command signals arrived at the door removing machine at the beginning and end of coke discharge from the oven.
- the coke oven Upon termination of coke discharge, the coke oven is given its door while the door extracting machine is forwarded to the next coke oven.
- a plant for coke discharge from a horizontal-flue coke oven into a coke carrying car comprising: a door extracting machine; a gas trap provided on the door extracting machine to prevent emission of dust and gas in to the atmosphere during coke discharge into the car; said gas trap having fixed skirt portions depending therefrom which extend below the top edges of the sides of the coke carrying car, said coke carrying car being movable between said skirt portions; pivotable fold plates mounted on the gas trap on either end thereof and extending transverse to said skirt portions, said fold plates adapted to be selectively raised and lowered so that when lowered during coke discharge from the oven these fold plates form together with the skirt portions a bell mouth facing with its wider portion the top of the car and forming an enclosed space together with the car.
- a coke carrying car used in the plant according to claim 1, comprising: a body made as a confined receptacle with a coke receiving hole made in the top of the car and having a cross-sectional area larger than that of the flow of coke charged into the car; horizontal platforms arranged in the top of said body along the direction of the car travel.
