Abstract
A fuel injection arrangement for internal combustion engines includes a nozzle holder and a hose coupling member. The hose coupling member is a screw nipple screwed into the nozzle holder. The screw nipple has at least one spout to which a hose may be connected.

10 Claims, 2 Drawing Figures I FUEL INJECTION ARRANGEMENT BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION As illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2, a fuel injection nozzle This invention relates to a fuel injection. nozzle for 5 according to the present invention includes a partially internal combustion engines. The invention relates. more particularly. to a fuel injection nozzle for internal combustion engines which has a hose coupling member serving for fuel supply and a nozzle holder. the coupling member being screwed into the nozzle holder. Known hose coupling members of this kind usually consist of a hose nipple equipped with two sealing rings and fastened on the nozzle holder by a hollow screw. They are. therefore, a not unsubstantial part of the cost of the injection nozzle. which is usually manufactured in large numbers.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION It is an object of the present invention to provide a fuel injection nozzle having a hose coupling member which can be manufactured advantageously from a cost standpoint.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a fuel injection nozzle which includes a hose cou pling member which is easily separable from the nozzle holder.
The foregoing objects. as well as others which are to become clear from the text below. are achieved in accordance with the present invention by providing a fuel injection nozzle for internal combustion engines which includes. in combination, a nozzle holder and a hose coupling member screwed into the nozzle holder. the coupling member being a screw nipple having at least one spout to which a hose may be connected.
It is a salient feature of the invention that the hose coupling member is developed as a screw nipple having at least one hose connecting spout.
In one preferred embodiment of the invention a ra dial end face exists on the screw nipple between the threaded stud and the connecting head which has a larger diameter; this surface presses an elastic ring onto a corresponding sealing surface on the nozzle holder. By means of the elastic ring. the screw nipple can be rotated to a desired position for the spout to which a hose is to be connected. Furthermore. changes in the measurements of the screw nipple. for example, by the influence of temperature. aging or the like. are effectively compensated by the elastic ring.
According to a supplementary embodiment of the invention. the screw nipple is equipped with two hose spouts. which form two arms aT with respect to one another. This is especially advantageous for leak fuel connections. This is so because. on the leakage fuel side. in diesel injection. normally several nozzles are connected together by T-members in the leakage line. Aside from the fact that such T-mernbcrs represent additional possibilities for leakage. it is usually necessary to employ longer lines which may be a disadvantage in the engine compartment. because they constitute obstacles.

illustrated nozzle holder I and a screw nipple 2. The screw nipple 2 is suitably made of a synthetic (plastic) material. 'As visible in FIG. 2, the screw nipple 2 is provided with two hose spouts 3. The screw nipple 2 serves as a leakage fuel drainage and is connected through a channel 4 with a spring chamber (not shown).
The side of the screw nipple 2 facing away from the nozzle holder 1 is equipped with a slit 5 through which the screw nipple 2 can be rotated with the aid of a screwdriver. A plane surface 8 is formed between a threaded stud portion 6 and a cross-sectionally larger head portion 7 of the screw nipple 2. This plane surface presses an elastic sealing ring 9, for example. a rubber ring, onto an annular surface 10 ot the nozzle holder 1. The more the screw nipple 2 is screwed in. the more the sealing ring 9 is pressed together. In this way, and within certain limits. the final rotational position of the screw nipple 2 is independent of the sealing property. Furthermore. the sealing ring 9 compensates for form changes of the nipple 2 which possibly may occur with the passage of time; for example. if the nipple 2 were made of plastic and dimensional changes occur in time due to creeping or settling. or because of temperature changes or aging.
It is to be appreciated that the foregoing description of illustrative embodiments is not by way of limitation. Many variants and other embodiments are possible within the scope of invention as defined in the appended claims.
What is claimed is:
I. A fuel injection arrangement for internal combustion engines comprising, in combination: a nozzle holder for holding a fuel injection nozzle. and a readily separable hose coupling member screwed into said nozzle holder. said coupling member being a screw nipple having at least one hosereceiving spout to which a hose may be removably connected.
2. A fuel injection arrangement as defined in claim I, wherein said screw nipple includes a threaded stud portion which is screwed into said nozzle holder and a head portion defining a radial end face at that end of said head portion facing said nozzle holder. said nozzle holder having a sealing surface corresponding to said radial end face. and an elastic sealing ring positioned between said sealing surface and said end face.
3. A fuel injection arrangement as defined in claim I, wherein said screw nipple is equipped with two respective hose-receiving spouts which form substantially a T-configuration with the remaining portion of said screw nipple.
4. A fuel injection arrangement as defined in claim 1, wherein an end of said screw nipple facing away from said nozzle holder is provided with a slot. whereby the screw nipple may be rotated by a screw driver.
5. A fuel injection arrangement as defined in claim I, wherein said screw nipple is made of a synthetic. plastic material.
6. A fuel injection arrangement as defined in claim 2, wherein said screw nipple is equipped with two respective hose-receiving spouts which form substantially a T-configuration with the remaining portion of said screw nipple.

Claims (10)
1. A fuel injection arrangement for internal combustion engines comprising, in combination: a nozzle holder for holding a fuel injection nozzle, and a readily separable hose coupling member screwed into said nozzle holder, said coupling member being a screw nipple having at least one hosereceiving spout to which a hose may be removably connected.

A fuel injection arrangement as defined in claim 1, wherein said screw nipple includes a threaded stud portion which is screwed into said nozzle holder and a head portion defining a radial end face at that end of said head portion facing said nozzle holder, said nozzle holder having a sealing surface corresponding to said radial end face, and an elastic sealing ring positioned between said sealing surface and said end face.
3. A fuel injection arrangement as defined in claim 1, wherein said screw nipple is equipped with two respective hose-receiving spouts which form substantially a T-configuration with the remaining portion of said screw nipple.
4. A fuel injection arrangement as defined in claim 1, wherein an end of said screw nipple facing away from said nozzle holder is provided with a slot, whereby the screw nipple may be rotated by a screw driver.
5. A fuel injection arrangement as defined in claim 1, wherein said screw nipple is made of a synthetic, plastic material.
6. A fuel injection arrangement as defined in claim 2, wherein said screw nipple is equipped with two respective hose-receiving spouts which form substantially a T-configuration with the remaining portion of said screw nipple.
7. A fuel injection arrangement as defined in claim 2, wherein an end of said screw nipple facing away from said nozzle holder is provided with a slot, whereby the screw nipple may be rotated by a screwdriver.
8. a fuel injection arrangement as defined in claim 2, wherein said screw nipple made of a synthetic, plastic material.
9. A fuel injection arrangement as defined in claim 7, wherein said screw nipple is equipped with two respective hose-receiving spouts which form substantially a T-configuration with the remaining portion of said screw nipple.
