To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, HERBERT S. BLAIR, of Bucyrus, in the county of Crawford and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Corn-Huskers, of which the following is a ful1,clear,and exact description.

This invention relates to hand corn-huskers or husking-pins, in which the implement is held in position on the hand by aflexible strap attached to the pin; and it consists in a combination with the husking pin or tool, of a flexible loop-like strap of novel construction, substantially as hereinafter described,and pointed" out in the claim.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part ofthis specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.

Figure 1 represents a view in perspective of a corn-husker embodying my invention with its strap adjusted for a boys or small hand, and Fig. 2 is a similar view with the holdingstrap adjusted for a large or extra large hand. Figure 3 is a longitudinal view of the husker as seen by looking down on the strap when adjusted as shown in Fig. 1.

A indicates the pin or husking portion of the implement, of the usual or any suitable construction, and Bis the flexible loop-like strap on the back of said pin for holding the husker in position on the hand when in use. This loop-strap B, which is made of leather or other suitable material, extends throughout the greater portion of the length of the pin or tool A, and is secured on the back thereof by rivets 0, applied to inner bent ends of the strap. Said strap is incised in the forward portion of its length centrally of its width, two longitudinal incisions parallel with each other, or approximately so, being made, the same extending from near the middle of the length of the strap down to near where the strap is riveted at its forward end to the pin or tool A. This leaves a longitudinal strip, b, intermediately of the width of the forward portion or half of the strap,fastened at its ends to the main portion of the strap, but free at its sides, whereby said strip may either be adjusted to occupy a flush position with the adjacent portions of the strap, so as to form a single extended loop, d, of the whole strap, as shown in Fig. 2, or said strip may be bent inward to form an independent forward loop, 6, within the main loop, as shown in Fig. 1. By means of this split or incised loop-like strap a perfect fit is secured for the husker to the hand of the user,and it is made readily adaptable to both large and small hands. Thus when the flexible strip portion 1) of the strap is ad justed, as shown in Fig. 1, it forms, in connection with the portion of the strap above or beyond'it, a loop-like passage or seat for the second finger of the hand, while the thumb rests against the under side of the front portion of the pin or tool, and the three remaining fingers are passed through the main looped portion of the strap back of the strip 1). This adapts the husker to a boys or small hand and makes a perfect fit. By adjusting the strip b so that it is flush with the rest of the strap, as shown in Fig. 2, then the second and remaining three fingers may all be passed through the main or single extended loop (I of the strap, the thumb or first finger being applied as before. This adapts the husker to a mans or extra large hand.

Having thus fully described my invention, I claimas new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The combination, with the husking pin or tool A, of the longitudinal loop-like strap B, having longitudinal incisions in the forward portion of its length arranged to form an inner flexing strip, 1), essentially as shown and described, and for the purpose or purposes herein set forth.
