HENRY G. VELIE, OF POUGHKEEPSIE, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR TO MARION F. VELIE, OF SAME PLACE.
lNDlCATOR -STAND FOR lVlElClNE-fl/ESSELS.
SPECIFICATIQN forming part of Letters Patent No. 387,192, dated July 31, 1888.
(No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
, Be it known that I, HENRY G. VELIE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Foughkeepsie, in the county of Dutchess and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Stand or Support forVessels, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a stand or support adapted to suitably support vesselssuch as in inedicine-vesselsas set forth in the following specification and claims, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a front elevation of a stand or support. Fig. 2 is a section in the plane y 3 Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a section in the plane 00 m, Fig. 1. Fig. A isa detail plan view of a cover.
Similar letters indicate correspondingparts.
In the drawings, the letter A indicates the horizontal base of the stand or support, having a back, B. In a slot in the back B is adjustably secured a bracket, 0, held by a setscrew, 1). To the bracket is jointed a cover,
F, by means of ajoint or pivot, E. The cover F is loosely jointed, so that, in addition to swinging laterally, said cover also has some vertical play, so that said cover can rise, as
shown in the case of the cover F, above the broken vessel G in Fig. 1, or descend to 0 tightly close the vessel, as seen in the case of the cover closing the unbroken vessel G in Fig. 1. The pivot E, as seen in Fig. 3, is of such length as to allow some vertical play to the cover F. The horizontal base A of the 5 stand may be made to support a series of vessels, such as G H, as shown in Fig. 3.
The back of the stand is provided with a clamp or holder, I, adapted to receive a receptacle, such as a bottle, J. The clamp is 0 shown integral or of one piece with the back B, and said clamp can be readily formed by cutting out the back B to a sufficient extent to enable the cutout portions to be formed or bent, so as to constitute a clamp. The stand is provided with a dial, K, having an adjustable hand, L, by which any hour or fraction of an hour can be indicated at which medicine is to be administered or the contents of a vessel, G, are to be utilized. A time-piece or clock, M, is also shown on the stand or support.
By having the cover F cup-shaped said cover will tightly close a vessel, G, by partially sinking into the mouth of the vessel, as seen in Fig 3, and said cup-shaped cover is also useful in supporting a spoon, N, in proximity to a vessel, G. Said spoon can be made serviceable in utilizing the contents of the vessel G. The stand can be made serviceable in supporting only one vessel G with a cover on and an index, or in supporting a series of vessels, covers, and indexes.
By having the stand A provided with a rim or flange, 0, any dripping-s or overflow from a vessel, G or H, or from a spoon, N, will re- 6 main on the stand A, instead of running off and soiling any article-such as a piece of furniture-on which the stand may rest.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- 7o 1. A vessel-stand consisting of the vessel supporting base A, having a vertically-slotted back, B, the vertically-adjustable bracket 0, having adjusting-screw D, and the swinging and vertically-moving vessel'closing cover F, 7 pivoted to the bracket, substantially as described.
2. A vessel-stand consisting of a vessel-supporting base, A, having a vertical back, B, provided with a vessel'holding clamp, I, a vertically-adjustable bracket, 0, on the back, and a vessel-closing cover, F, pivotally con nected with the bracket, substantially as described.
3. A vessel stand consisting of a vessel-supporting base, A, having a vertical back, B, provided with an adjustable timeindex, a vertically-adjustable bracket, 0, and a vesselclosing cover, F, pivotally connected with the bracket, substantially as described.
4. A vessel-stand consisting of a supporting-base, A, having a vertical back, B, provided with a time-piece, M, and an adjustable time-index, K L, and a swinging vessel-closing cover, F, pivotally connected with the back, 5 substantially as described.
5. A vessel-stand consisting of a supporting-base, A, having a vertically-slotted back, B, provided with a time-piece, M, and an adjustable time-index, K L, a vertically-adj 11st- 5 able bracket, 0, having adjusting-screw D, and. a vessel-closing cover, F, pivoted to the bracket, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
