Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OEEICE.
JOHN P. EUSTIS, OF NFV YORK, N. Y.
HOLDER FOR VESSELS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N o, 404,268, dated May 28, 1889.
Application led March 6, 1889.
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN P. EUsTIs, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, county and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Holders for Vessels, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has for its object to provide a simple and economical holder for pots, kettles, and other vessels; and the invention consists in the novel construction of parts, hereinafter described and claimed, reference being made to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a sectional View of a holder for Vessels, the section being taken along line fr Fig. 2. Fig. 2 is a section along line y y, Fig. l. Fig. 3 is a section along line z z, Fig. l. Fig. 4 is a front view of Fig. l. Fig. 5 is a view of a holder detached from the vessel.
Similar letters indicate corresponding parts.
The letter A indicates the base; B, the clamp; E, the handle, and H represents a pot, crock, or vessel. The handle and clamp are firmly connected. In the drawings the clamp and handle are shown integral, being made of one piece of wire suitably bent. The
clamp may be constructed of any suitable form and of any material that will permit it to expand and contact. By having the clamp so constructed as to allow it to expand and contract said clamp will accommodate itself to the various expansions and contractions of the Vessel H when exposed to varying telnperatures without liability of the vessel H being broken.
The vessel I-I is shown as held to t-he base Serial No.302 O64. (No model.)
by a suitable catch. In the drawings the catch is shown formed of a lug, I, on the vessel, passing into a suitable hole or recess in the base. The edgel of the hole can be strengthened by a iiange or bead, K. Instead of having the lug I on the vessel and the recess in the base A, the lug may be on the base and the recess in the vessel. The lug and recess may also be made in form of a groove and flange passing around the vessel and base.
`What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. A vessel-holder consisting of the base A, for supporting the bottom of the vessel, and having the arm or bracket A', the expansible and contractible spring-clamp I5, and the handle E, rigid with the clamp, said clamp and handle connected with the arm or bracket by the hinge or joint c, which permits the clamp and handle to be moved to and fro, substantially as described.
2. Avessel-holder consisting of the base for supporting the bottom of the vessel, the handle E, connected with the base, and the expansible springclamp fixed to the handle for encircling the top part of the vessel, substantially as described.
3. A vessel-holder consisting of the base A, for supporting the bottom of the vessel, the handle E, connected with the base, the ringclamp B, connected with the handle, and the lug I on the vessel, for securing the latter to the base, substantially as described.
4. A vessel-holder consisting of the base A, having a hole the edge of which is provided with a bead, K, the handle E, connected with the base, the ring-clamp B, connected to the handle, andthe lug I on the vessel engaging the hole in the base, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing' witnesses.
JOI-IN P. EUSTIS.
' Witnesses:
