1 Claim, 3 Drawing Figures ARTICLE FOR CARRYING AND CONCEALABLY SUPPORTING A CONTAINER BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION This invention relates generally to carrying devices, and more specifically relates to an article for carrying and concealably supporting a container.
Carrying devices of the type intended to support containers which contain operational elements therein, such as carriers in a photoelectric system which support containers which contain the light source transmitter or photoelectric cell receiver electronic circuitry elements therein, heretofore required installation thereof at locations remote from the location of the cooperating transmitter or receiver elements to which the contained electronic circuitry elements were connected, by virtue of the dimensions of the carrying device and the contained electronic circuitry elements, as the formation of an aperture in a wall or other concealing support surface, which would be large enough to accommodate the electronic circuitry at a location adjacent to the transmitter or receiver, would prevent concealment of the photoelectric system. Furthermore,
- the location of the contained electronic circuitry elements at a point remote from the cooperating transmitter or receiver elements would result in distortion and signal dissipation, thereby interfering with the operation of the photoelectric system.
In accordance with the foregoing, it may be regarded as an object of the present invention to provide a carrying device which enables installation of contained elements in a wall or other concealing support surface for connection with cooperating elements while concealing the contained element-cooperating element system.
It is a further object of the invention to provide a carrying device which enables location of the contained elements adjacent to the cooperating elements.
SUMMARY or THE INVENTION In accordance with the present invention, the foregoing objects and others are achieved, as will become apparent in the course of the ensuing specification, in an article for carrying and concealably supporting a container, which includes a connector portion, which extends from the upper portion of the support portion which supports the container therein, and wherein the width thereof is less than the width of the support rim of an aperture formed in the concealing support surface, to enable insertion of the container supported in the support portion through the aperture and support thereof in the concealing support surface, and which further includes a retaining lip portion which extends from the connecting portion in a plane generally perpendicular to the plane of the connecting portion, to enable retention of the container and the contained elements in a concealed position adjacent to the location of the cooperating elements.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS The invention is diagramatically illustrated by way of example in the drawings appended hereto, wherein similar reference characters indicate like parts, in which:
FIG. 1 is a top plan view of an article for carrying and concealably supporting a container, in accordance with the invention;
FIG. 2 is a side elevational view of the article; and
FIG. 3 is an isometric rear view of the wall with the contained elements and the cooperating elements positioned in the aperture formed therein.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT In accordance with the preferred mode of practicing the invention, the concealable supporting carrier 10 (FIGS. 13), for example, comprises a support portion 11, a connecting portion 12, and a retaining lip portion 13.
The support portion 11, for example (FIGS. 1 and 3), comprises a front wall 20, a back wall 21, which includes an upper portion 22 thereof, side walls 23, 23', and base support portions 24, 24, 24" which, in the preferred embodiment, support the container A, which contains the electronic circuitry elements B therein.
The connecting portion 12 (FIGS. 1 and 2) for example, extends from the support portion 11 upper portion 22, and includes a width C which isless than the corresponding width D of the support rim E of an aperture The retaining lip portion 13, for example, (FIG. 2)
extends from the connecting portion 12 in a plane generally perpendicular to and downwardly-directed from the plane of the connecting portion 12.
For installation and operation of the concealable supporting carrier 10, for example, (FIG. 3) the aperture F may be formed in the concealing support surface or wall G, and is generally formed to be of a size and shape sufficient to accommodate the cooperating transmitter or receiver elements H therein. The container A, which includes the contained electronic circuitry elements B therein, is placed in the support portion 11 of the concealable support carrier 10 and is supported therein by the supportportion 11 base support portions 24, 24', 24", back wall 21, side walls 23, 23 and front wall 20. The concealable support carrier 10 is then placed in position in the concealing support surface G by insert- I ing' the support portion 11, withthe container A supported therein, through the aperture F, and placing the support portion 11 thereof on the aperture support rim E, with the retaining lip portion 13 gripping the front portion I of the concealing support surface G to conceal the contained electronic circuitry elements B thereby. Electrical connections are then effectuated between the contained electronic circuitry elements B, which are supported in the concealed support carrier 10, and the cooperating transmitter or receiver elements H, which are then inserted through the aperture F to be supported therein, and a plate (not shown) which may comprise, for example, a double-plug wall outlet plate, is secured in position to conceal the coopcrating transmitter or receiver elements H thereby. Corresponding cooperating transmitter or receiver elements (and electronic circuitry elements which are supported in a corresponding concealable supporting carrier, not shown) may be installed in a similar manner in a concealing support surface on the opposite side of a room (not shown), for example, to complete installation for operation of a photoelectric system,
The connecting portion of the concealable supporting carrier, which extends from the upper portion of the support portion, and which is less wide than the width of the aperture support rim, enables the installation of the contained elements in a concealing support surface for connection with the cooperating elements while concealing the contained element-cooperating element system. The retaining lip portion of the concealable supporting carrier, which extends from the connecting portion in a plane generally perpendicular to the plane of the connecting portion, enables the location of the contained elements adjacent to the coopcrating elements.
While the present invention has been particularly set forth in terms of a specific embodiment thereof, it will be understood in view of the instant disclosure, that numerous variations upon the invention are now enabled to those skilled in the art, which variations in propriety are within the scope of the instant teaching. Accordingly, the invention is to be broadly construed and limited only by the scope and spirit of the claims now appended hereto.
I claim:
1. A station assembly for concealably mounting a station of two-part electronic assembly members on the lower edge of an apertured portion of a wall inwardly of said wall, said apertured portion being of lesser dimensions than the dimensions of the station assembly, said station assembly comprising:
