4 Claims, 5 Drawing Figures FOIL BLOCK DEVICE BACKGROUND OF INVENTION This invention relates generally to foil interconnection security devices, and more specifically relates to a foil block device, which provides a connector element for positive and protected foil-wire interconnection in a security system and secure foil grip retention.
Pursuant to the invention, the foil block device is conveniently and efficiently installed in a corner of a window or other desired location and is interconnected with a security system in a simplified installation operation to provide a firm, secure, protected interconnection of elements.
In accordance with the foregoing, it may be regarded as among the objects of the present invention to provide a novel unitary device for securement of a foil to a foil block device and for protection of the elements thereof and interconnection therewith to a security system.
In accordance with the present invention, the foregoing objects and others are achieved, as will become apparent in the course of the ensuing specification, in a foil block device, which includes a block including an inclined surface, and a contact plate including an outer surface and an inner surface with a projecting portion which extends from the inner surface and which bears against the block inclined surface, providing secure, positive, and direct mounting of a contact foil therein to enable alarm circuit interconnection thereto.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS The invention is diagramatically illustrated, by way of example, in the appended drawings, wherein similar reference characters indicate like parts, in which:
FIG. 1 is an isometric fragmentary view of a foil block device embodying the invention secured to a window with the foil brought into proximity therewith and the top affixation means being removed;
FIG. 2 is a similar view with the contact plate removed and the foil extending over the block front recessed inclined surface;
FIG. 3 is a similar view with the foil extending over the block top surface;
FIG. 4 is a similar view with the contact plate replaced and the connector wire being affixed thereto; and
FIG. 5 is a bottom isometric view of a contact plate pursuant to the invention.
DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENT In accordance with the preferred mode of practicing the invention, as shown in the drawings, in one embodiment of the invention, the foil block device 11 (FIG. 1)
for example, comprises a block member 12, a contact plate 13, and top affixation means 14, with bottom affixation means 15 thereof.
The block member 12 (FIGS. 2 and 3) has a top surface 20, a front inclined recess surface 21, .a front corner surface 22, a bottom surface 23 thereof, a threaded top aperture 24, and inclined surface aperture 25.
The contact plate 13 (FIGS. 1 and 5) comprises an inclined front surface 30 and a flat surface 31 thereof, with projecting tips 32 extending from the bottom surface 33, andwith affixation aperture 34 in the top surface 31.
e The top affixation means 14 for example (FIGS. 1 and 4) may comprise a terminal screw 40 which threads into block member threaded top aperture 24 through contact plate affixation aperture 34, with connector wire 41.
In operation, in the embodiment of the invention, for example, the foil block device 11 (FIG. 1) is positioned adjacent the edge E of the window W, and the foil F is brought on the window surface to an adjacent point.
The foil block device 11 may be secured to the window by a self-adhesive compound on the paper backed enlarged bottom surface area of bottom affixation means 15, for example, for secure window-seal grip thereto. The contact plate 13 may then be removed from the foil block device 11 by removing top affixation means 14, such as terminal screw 40 which extends through contact plate affixation aperture 34 and block member threaded top aperture 24.
The foil F may then be brought to the front corner surface 22 of the block member 12 (FIG. 2) and pushed thereagainst to protect the foil F where it leaves the window W. The foil F may next be brought over the front inclined recessed surface 22 and over the top surface 20 to cover the threaded top aperture 24 (FIG. 3). In the next step of the exemplary embodiment installation, the contact plate 13 is placed back in position on the block member 12 (FIG. 4) so that the projecting tips 32 grip the foil F and the aligned affixation aperture 34 (FIG. 5) directs the top affixation means in a path through the foil F and into threaded top aperture 24 for affixation of connector wire 41 (which is connected to a security system, for example) contact plate 13, foil F, and block member 12 together and by clamping the contact plate projecting tips 32 into the foil F and the inclined surface apertures 25.
By virtue of the expanded bottom surface area, front corner surface area, and projecting tips construction of the foil block device of this invention, the device affords expanded adhesive holding power of the block on the window, protection for the foil from damage at the critical point where it leaves the glass, and positive contact and tight grip of the foil for positive contact and connection.
While the present invention has been particularly set forth .in terms of a specific embodiment thereof, it will be evident in view of the instant disclosure, that numerous variations upon the invention are now enabled to those skilled in the art, which variations in propriety are yet within the true scope of this teaching. Accordingly, the invention is to be broadly construed, and limited only by the scope and spirit of the claims now appended hereto.
