2 Claims, 3 Drawing Figures HARNESS MECHANISMS FOR TRAVELLING WAVE SHEDDING LOOMS This is a continuation of application Ser. No. 180,622, filed Sept. 15, 1971, now abandoned.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to weaving machines, and more specifically to harness mechanisms for travelling wave shedding looms.
Widely known at present are harness mechanisms comprising systems of shaft rods with bars and healds for the passage of the warp threads.
In these mechanisms each bar with the healds is hingedly connected to the two adjacent shaft rods.
In such mechanisms, the hinge joints of the bars with the shaft rods complicate the healding of the warp threads when refeeding the loom, or feeding the travelling wave loom for another type of fabric, and exclude the possibility of healding the warp threads on a drawing-in frame beyond the travelling wave loom, since in this case the bars themselves must be removed together with the healds, then the required number of healds be added or removed from each bar, whereupon each bar again be hinged to the shaft rods.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION It is an object of the present invention to eliminate the cited disadvantages.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a mechanism, which permits rapidly refeeding the loom for another type of fabric.
A further object of the invention is to provide a loom, that offers conditions for healding the warp .threads on a drawing-in frame with a minimum labour consumption.
With these and other objects in view, in the harness mechanism according to the invention, the shaft rods have on their two opposite lateral sides slots to let therethrough an extended flexible element whereon the healds are collected, each shaft rod comprising means to fasten thereto said flexible element.
The means to fasten the flexible element to each shaft rod advantageously comprises a latch in the form of a spring, one end of which is affixed on the shaft rod, and the other is free and is springily pressed against the rod so that it locks the slot of the shaft rod together with the flexible element. Such a design permits rapidly refeeding the loom or feeding it from another sort of fabric, and preparing the conditions to heald the warp threads on a drawing-in frame, since in these cases each flexible element is quickly removed.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS For a better appreciation of the invention, considered below is a particular exemplary embodiment thereof taken with references to the appended drawings, wherein:
FIG. 1 shows the harness mechanism according to the invention, front view;
FIG. 2'- same as in FIG. 1, side view of one shaft rod;
FIG. 3 same as in FIG. 2, top view.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS The mechanism comprises systems of shaft rods 1 (FIGS. 1 and 2) with healds 2 for the passage of warp threads 3. Each shaft rod 1 has on its opposite lateral sides slots 4 to let therethrough an extended flexible element 5 whereon healds 2 are collected, a means 6 also being provided at each shaft rod to fasten thereto said flexible element 5.
To limit the movement of latch 7 on axle 11 it has lugs 12 (FIG. 3) which protrude into holes 13 in the shaft rod 1.
Before operating the harness mechanism the travelling wave loom is to be threaded. The warp threads 3 are drawn through healds 2 collected on two flexible elements, which is done either in the servicing zone of the loom, or in the drawing-in shed. Then in accordance with the article of fabric to be produced, the calculated number of healds 2 with the warp threads 3 located on the flexible elements 5 are in succession distributed between the shaft rods 1 and locked by latches 7.
Following a positive low the shaft rods I perform phaseshifted reciprocatory movement, whereupon the flexible elements 5 with healds 2 and warp threads 3 execute wavelike movement in the direction of motion of the shuttles.
In case the travelling wave loom is to be referred for a new sort of fabric, latches 7 are quickly withdrawn from under rests 10 to open slots 4, and the flexible elements 5 are readily removed from the shaft rods 1.
What we claim is:
1. A harness mechanism for a travelling wave shedding loom comprising: a plurality of spatially arranged shaft rods, the two opposite lateral sides at predetermined points longitudinally thereof being provided with slots; an extended flexible element passing through the laterally opposed slots of consecutive ones of the shafts so that a plurality of healds for the warp threads of the loom may-be mounted therebetween; a plurality of locking means for locking said flexible element within corresponding ones of the slots in said shaft rods, each respective one of said locking means being fixedly mounted vicinal to the laterally opposed slots in each one of said shaft rods and providing ease of release of said flexible element therefrom to thereby effect rapid refeeding of the loom when required.
2. A mechanism as in claim 1, wherein each said locking means comprises at least two spring-loaded latches, one end of each of siad latches being springbiased into that part of a respective shaft rod at which said locking means is affixed, the other ends being free to move, and respectively engageable with stop members mounted at said that part so as to respectively lock the lateral slots of said respective shaft rod at said that part together with the flexible element disposed therein, to prevent this element from falling out of said slots.

2. A mechanism as in claim 1, wherein each said locking means comprises at least two spring-loaded latches, one end of each of siad latches being spring-biased into that part of a respective shaft rod at which said locking means is affixed, the other ends being free to move, and respectively engageable with stop members mounted at said that part so as to respectively lock the lateral slots of said respective shaft rod at said that part together with the flexible element disposed therein, to prevent this element from falling out of said slots.
