A slide is adapted to slide between the window and the rear panel from a window open to a window closed position and has a slot adjacent one end thereof. An endless flexible band passes through the slot and the slide and around the other end of the slide. The band is secured to a portion of the window frame which is adjacent the slot when the slide is in the window closed position. The band carries a display underlying the window opening when the slide is in the window closed position and moving behind the slide when the slide is moved to the window open position. The inside of the rear panel carries a display underlying the window opening and visible through the window opening when the slide is in the window open position.
1 Claim, 5 Drawing Figures DISPLAY DEVICE Brief Summary of the Invention A display device has a window having a frame and a window opening and a rear panel spaced from the window. The inside of the rear panel carries a display underlying the window opening and visible through the window opening when theslide is in the window open position.
Brief Description of the Drawings FIG. 1 is a top plan view of a display device in accordancae with the invention;
FIG. 2 is a bottom plan view of the device of FIG. 1;
Detailed Description A display device 1 has a window 2 surrounded by a frame 4 which is secured by an adhesive to a U shaped spacer member 6 which in turn is secured by an adhesive to a back panel 8.
A slide 10 is mounted for sliding within U shaped member 6 and between frame 4 and back panel 8. Slide 10 has an enlarged handle portion 12 which has a slot 16 through which passes an endless flexible band 18 of, for example, paper. Band 18 passes around recessed end 20 of slide 10 and is secured to the interior of panel frame 4 by an adhesive indicated at 22. Handle portion 12 is beveled at 24 and 26 and U" shaped member 6 is correspondingly beveled at 28 and 30 to permit a portion of the handle portion 12 to enter behind frame 4.
As seen in FIG. 1, band 18 has a display in the form of a capsule 34 with descriptive writing concerning the capsule indicated at 36 imprinted thereon. As seen in FIG. 5, the inner face of back panel 8 has a display in the form of a capsule 38 and'descriptive matter concerning the capsule 38 indicated at 40 imprinted thereon.
In operation handle portion 12 of slide 10 is pulled to the right as viewed in FIG. 1. Since band 18 is se cured to frame 4 by adhesive 22, band 18 translates counterclockwise as viewed in FIG. 4 moving around recessed end 20 and through slot l6 of slide 10 to position capsule 34 and descriptive matter 36 at the rear of slide leaving a blank portion of the band 18 facing forwardly as shown in FIG. 5. This results in the opening of window 2 and exposing the showing of capsule 38 and its accompanying descriptive material 40. In this manner. a person viewing the display device 1 can first study capsule 34 and its descriptive matter 36 and then by pulling the slide 10 to the right expose capsule 38 and'its descriptive matter for comparison. Slide 10 is readily returned to its original position by urging the handle portion 12 to the left as viewed in FIG. 1 which causes the band 18 to translate clockwise as viewed in FIG. 4.
It will be understood that the above-described embodiment is illustrative and is not intended to be limiting.
I claim:
1. A display device comprising:
a planar frame having opposed upper and lower edges, opposed side edges and a window opening.
an endless flexible band having substantially parallel edges, said flexible band being secured to the frame between the window opening and one side edge of the frame on a line substantially normal to the edges of the band, lying behind and overlapping the window opening. and having a display opposite the window opening for viewing through the window opening,
a planar slide means having a pair of opposed edges substantially normal to the edges of the band. said band substantially encompassing 'the slide means between the opposed edges thereof,
a handle integral with the slide means extending beyond said one side edge of the frame for manually moving the slide means in the direction away from the other side edge of the frame to rotate the band about the slide means and move the band away from the window opening and for subsequently returning the slide means to its original position,
a planar panel behind the slide means and connected to the frame, said panel presenting a display underlying the window opening and visible when the band is moved away from the window opening.
whereby reciprocal movement of the handle and the associated slide means results in the presentation of the displays alternatively.
