  • ABSTRACT [30] Foreign Application Priority Data Nov 1 1972 Sweden 1 5901/72
  • a mounting plate carrying rollers and drive means for driving a twist tube and a magnet for pressing the tube [52] C1 57/77 45 57/104 against the rims of the rollers, may be positioned in [51 Int Cl. u: 62 1/06 either of two positions 180 opposite from one another 58] Field 45 in order to reverse the sense of rotation of the tube by means on the mounting plate and. on a machine frame which means cooperate with each other to permit [56] References Cited such opposite mounting.
  • the present invention relates to apparatus for texturing textile yarns, and more particularly to a device for selectively changing the sense of rotation of the twist tube of a false-twist texturing machine.
  • False-twisting machines for texturing synthetic yarns are known in which the twist tubes of a plurality of processing stations are directly or indirectly rotated by common drive means, such as a drive belt. Such machines may also be equipped with means for reversing the direction of movement of the drive means so as to change the sense of rotation of the twist tubes.
  • a known machine of this type has for each processing station a bearing plate which can be swivelled about its center of gravity and carrying on it false-twist devices arranged in pairs, each of the false-twist devices comprising a drive and a support roller and a permanent magnet keeping the twist tubes in the cuneal throat between the rollers.
  • the actuation of a lever provided at the end of the support plate effects application to or removal from the forward or rearward faces of the drive belt so that opposite rotation of the twist tubes of the two false-twist devices is effected.
  • I contribute, by the present invention, a device for selectively changing the direction of rotation of the twist tube of a false-twist texturing machine which overcomes the aforementioned difficulties and in which the above-noted requirements are fulfilled to a great extent.
  • the device comprises two axially parallel rollers rotatable about their axes and mounted on a mounting plate in one cuneal throat of which a twist tube may be supported in tangential contact with the circumferential surfaces or rims of the rollers, a magnet, such as a permanent magnet, pressing the twist tube against the rollers, and drive rolls arranged on extended roller shafts to be driven by means of a driving belt.
  • a magnet such as a permanent magnet
  • a support on the: machine frame and this support is shiftable in horizontal direction transversely with respect to the wide or driving surfaces of the drive belt, the support having a pair of parallel vertical pins arranged on its upper face, onto which pins the mounting plate may be positioned by fitting either pair of bores on the pins. It will be seen that, since either pair of bores may be fitted on. the pins, the mounting plate, and the rollers and magnet mounted on it, can be positioned in either of two positions 180 opposite from one another. In this way, the drive belt can be made to contact one or the other drive roll to drive the twist tube in the rotational sense desired.
  • the pairs of bores and the rollers may be arranged so that regardless of which of the two pairs of bores is fitted onto the pair of pins of the support, the position of the twist tube in space is the same.
  • the magnet may be shaped so that it does not protrude from the contours of the rollers.
  • FIG. 1 is a front elevational view of apparatus according to the present invention.
  • FIGS. 2 to 4 are top views of two adjoining devices shown in various arrangements.
  • a plurality of devices according to the present invention may be arranged on a texturing machine consistent with the number of yarn treatment stations, and may be situated beside each other on both sides of a frame, for example devices numbering 160 may be so mounted, i.e., on each side of the frame.
  • FIGS. l and 2 shows two devices A and B according to the present invention, having a support 1 which is fixed on two rods 2, 2' shiftable in horizontal direction on the machine frame 3.
  • Each support 1 comprises two parallel, vertically extending pins 4, 4' onto which corresponding parallel pairs of bores 6, 6; 7, 7' formed in the mounting plate 5 and extending perpendicular with respect to the plate surface can be fitted,
  • Each mounting plate 5 is also provided with two perforations through which the vertical shafts 8, 9 are passed. Rollers 10, 11 are fixed on the shafts 8, 9
  • each roller consisting of two discs 10", and 11, 11", which are kept at a distance from each other by means of spacers.
  • the twist tube 12 is supported in parallel position with respect to the roller axis, the twist tube being pressed against the disc rims by means of a permanent horseshoe magnet arranged on a support 13.
  • the magnet 14 is preferably shaped so that it does not protrude beyond thecircumference of the rollers 10, 11. Below the plate 5, rolls 15, 16 are provided on the shafts 8, 9, against which rolls 15, 16, a drive belt 17 may be applied as desired.
  • the bores 6, 6 of the mounting plate 5 are fitted onto the pins 4, 4 of support 1, and the latter is positioned so that the drive belt 17, moving in direction of the arrow, drives the roll in counterclockwise direction, the discs 10. 10" moving into the cuneal throat in which the twist tube 12 is placed, so that the twist tube rotates in clockwise direction.
  • the position of the mounting plate is turned with respect to the position of device A by 180 about the central axis of twist tube 12 as the axis of rotation, i.e. the pair of bores 7, 7 is fitted onto the pins 4, 4 of support 1.
  • Carrier 1 is in such a position that the drive belt 17 drives the roll 16 in clockwise direction, the discs 11, 11' moving into the .cuneal throat so that the twist tube 12 rotates in counterclockwise direction.
  • the two twist tubes of devices A and B are associated with two adjoining yarn treatment stations simultaneously to impart to the corresponding yarns a falsetwist in S and Z direction, respectively.
  • the device of the present invention makes it possible to have any other sequence of S and 2 falsetwist, according to choice, over the whole length of the machine.
  • the pins on support 1 so that a bore of a pair of bores 6, 6; 7, 7 may be fitted onto the same.
  • the pins may, for example, be arranged so that the bores 6 and 7' or respectively 6 and 7, may be titted onto thesame or so that the bores 6 and 7, or respectively 6' and 7 may be fitted onto the pins.
  • a further advantage of the device of the present invention consists in that the mounting plate may always be fitted onto the pins of the support in such a manner that the roller acting as driving roller moves into the cuneal throat in which the twist tube is placed, the slippage being thus minimized. Furthermore, lateral space consumption of the device towards the adjoining yarn treatment stations is extremely low since the permanent magnet does not protrude from the contours of the rollers. Furthermore, upon a change of the direction of rotation of the twist tube, the position of the same is not altered since the mounting plate is then turned by 180, the central axis of the twist tube being the axis of rotation.
  • the device of the present invention makes it possible to have the twist tubes, viewed from the operating side of the machine, always before the drive belt, whereby introduction of the yarns in the respective treating stations is facilitated and the risk of accidents reduced.
  • the device of the present invention makes it possible in a simple way to reverse the direction of rotation of all the twist tubes of a machine by reversal of the direction of movement of the driving belt, fitting of all the mounting plates into their opposite position being necessary only to assure that all the drive rollers move into the cuneal throat in which the twist tubes are provided.
  • Device for selectively changing the direction of rotation of a twist tube in false-twist texturing machines comprising mounting plate means (5), two axially parallel rollers (10,11) mounted on said mounting plate means for rotation about their axes, said rollers being arranged to form cuneal throats in one of which a twist tube is adapted to be supported in tangential contact with the rims of said rollers, a magnet (14) for pressing the twisttube towards the rollers (10,11), driving rolls (15,16) arranged on elongated roller shafts to be driven by means of a belt (17), support means (1) constructed and arranged to be shiftable horizontally relatively to a machine frame and transversely to the wide drive surface of the drive belt, pins projecting from one of said means and bores formed in the other of said means, said pins being adapted to fit into said bores and said pins and bores being located to permit said mounting plate means to be positioned in either of two positions relatively to said support means whereby the drive belt will drive a selected one of said driving rolls
