UNITED STATES PATENTS r 2,900,496 8/1959 Williams.., ..'240/144 4 Claims, 5 Drawing Figures 1 MULTI CHANGEABLELAMPSHADE SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION My invention is directed toward a structure in which lampshades can be changed at will for use with the same lamp without having special complete lamp shades fabricated for this purpose.
My invention employs an elongated hollow translucan bedisposed in the socket.
A vertical hollow translucent ceramic or other heat resistant cylinder 20 open at both ends can be supported at its lower end by adaptor 16 and extend upward therefrom with the bulb disposedtherein. The cylinder has three equidistantly spaced axially extending notched tracks 22 disposed in the outer surface.
cent cylinder open at both ends and adapted to be supported vertically on a lamp with a bulb disposed therein. The cylinder has spaced parallel notched tracks extending in the axial direction.
The shade itself can consist of stretchable fabric material supported on wire frames. These frames have legs which can detachably engage notches on the tracks to hold the shade in place. By replacing material and frames, the size and shape of the shade can be changed as desired without altering the remaining structure in I any way.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS In the drawings: FIG. 1 is a perspective view of one embodiment of my invention;
FIG. 2 is an exploded view thereof;
FIG. 3 shows a modification of the structure of. FIG.
FIG. 4 shows another modification of the structure of FIG. 1; and
FIG. 5 shows still another modification of the structure of FIG. 1.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Referring now to the drawings FIGS. 1-5, a lamp base supports a vertical shaft 12 which can but need not engage a hollow vertical height adaptor 14. An inverted cup like adaptor 16, which can be of split type if desired, can be disposed on top of adaptor 14 and ,secured thereto. A lamp bulb socket 18 is secured to and extends upward from the center of adaptor 16. A bulb Wire frames 24 which can be large or small circles or rectangles or squares have inwardly extending legs 26 having tips 28 detachably engagable with the notches in the tracks. Sleeves of stretchable shade material 30 can be fitted over the frames to form the various shapes and sizes shown in the figures.
It is a simple task to remove and replace frames and material to change shades as previously described.
While I have described my invention with particular reference to the drawings, such is not to be considered 2. The structure of claim 1 in combination with a lamp having a socket with a bulb therein extending upwards from an inverted cup like receptacle, one end of the cylinder fitting in the receptacle with the bulb extending axially within the cylinder.
3. The structure of claim 2 wherein said means in 'clude a plurality of frames having legs which engage said notches.
4. The structure of claim 3 wherein there are three tracks equidistantly spaced.
Claims (4)
1. A lamp shade structure comprising: AN ELONGATED HOLLOW TRANSLUCENT CYLINDER OPEN AT BOTH ENDS, SAID CYLINDER HAVING SPACED PARALLEL NOTCHED TRACKS EXTENDING IN THE AXIAL DIRECTION ALONG THE OUTER SURFACE; A LAMP SHADE; AND MEANS EXTENDING INWARD FROM THE SHADE AND ENGAGING SAID TRACKS TO SUPPORT THE CYLINDER WITHIN THE SHADE.
2. The structure of claim 1 in combination with a lamp having a socket with a bulb therein extending upwards from an inverted cup like receptacle, one end of the cylinder fitting in the receptacle with the bulb extending axially within the cylinder.
3. The structure of claim 2 wherein said means include a plurality of frames having legs which engage said notches.
4. The structure of claim 3 wherein there are three tracks equidistantly spaced.
